These death scenes scared me when I was little, (except for the one at 1:40 which always made me laugh). Playing Space Ace when I was little was difficult. I only had the mac version, which is inferior to virtually every other release of the game, I had no idea how to play, and I remember seeing the first death scene in this video constantly whenever I tried to play. I never was able to input a single correct move. I just wanted to be "cool" like my siblings who could beat it. Nowadays I'm pretty good at the game, and manage to beat it virtually every time I play it. For anyone who played this in the arcade and got spooked by, jumped, or laughed at these scenes, here they are ripped from the original laserdisc.
