I want to see this series rebooted. but done right and not screwed up by making it politically correct.

Need a new batch of actors to play the descendants of the original population in 1999 in the Breakaway episode. So the Space 2099 first episode would seem to be 100 years later with all new sets and more modern Eagle spaceships. New aliens also and everything done digitally with no models used. Those are my thoughts on it.

Let this be released on TV!

So will this version ever appear??????
-
It is a start. But it will be great for a brand new series that picks up when the old one leaves off.

Awesome ideas! I do remember a few scenes that could definitely be worked on and enhanced. One would be in the opening credits where the Eagle transport is tumbling down towards the moon and explodes. Maybe slowing down the explosion a bit would make it look less like a small plastic model and a fire cracker going off.
Also in the first episode of Breakaway...There was a two man brawl near the nuclear dump area...One of the Alphian's space helmet visors flipped up instantly by mistake and flopped back down in the struggle. That probably would've indicated instant death right at that moment. lol. Just little things that certainly wouldn't hold up well with those damned millennials! haha
Maybe in a new series there could be more of a scientific explanation of what happened to earth with the moon leaving orbit. I believe in Breakaway there was mention of earth quakes in Californias San Andreas fault. Unfortunately it would probably be way worse back home, with earthquakes and tidal waves everywhere and an increasingly faster rotating earth due to the absence of the moon's opposing gravity. Basically a really screwed up planet. I believe the thermonuclear explosion on the moon would also have to be greatly enhanced as well to break such a large mass out of it's orbit. Just stuff going through my mind. Thanks for everyone's time! I think all this is 👍 great! -
Gagarin was not the first man in space. The first man died. Google it.

VERY Impressive! I would tune in to watch it!!!
-
it should be just remade into a new tv series or movie would be great.
-
The problem is the stories kind of blow. Especially the second season.
-
It would have been a cool project... Too bad it was never completed...

I like the idea a lot, but perhaps you go too far? For example, many people now enjoy the digitally remastered Star Trek TOS without the need to 'correct' the science or editing. I think simply enhancing the visual effects that didn't translate well into the HD reprint may be enough. The original editing and story are what they are and I for one like the more contemplative pace of the show as it was first intended.

I hope it happens like they did with Star Trek. If only they did that to the original Battlestar Galactica.
-
Hope you like this.

The thing is, if you do revamp the set to current sci-fi expectations and graphics you could make a continuation of the old , but there would have to be a bridge or explanation on how the old crew are no longer there and the new are. It could be as simple as 3rd or X generation of survivors on MB-Alpha; heck, TRON Legacy digitally introduced a younger version of one of the main characters for a significant portion of the movie, the same could be done for a bridge episode here . Even if its a complete failure, the original production is still available and you could just as easily skip the re-boot and be content with the old.

See this is the problem with Sci-Fi today. They feel the need to explain things with today's standards. FYI We don't know everything. Who's to say that the way the moon broke way in Space 1999 couldn't happen. We find it hard to believe that there can be aliens and they may be able to travel at speeds 10 or more times faster than the speed of light.
