amazing to watch.Didn't think I would ever see these shows again.Loved this as a kid

They chose the one spacecraft that contained the creature :-) Also, they docked at the top of a vertical structure, yet they opened the hatch in the side of their own craft :-)

Originally aired October 23, 1975 per Wikipedia.

Haha, the creators and writers of this show clearly overestimated humanity's progress in space travel. They thought by the 1990s there'd be a station on the moon. Here we are in 2016 and we're still stuck on earth. They should've aimed for the 24th century. 😆

Fantastic episode. I felt so sorry for Tony in that the only way he finally got everyone (other than Koenig who always stuck up for him) to believe him was to get eaten.

Just like everyone else, I was freaked out by the "dragon." But the monster couldn't have carried this episode alone. There was the spectre of mental illness. No one believed Cellini, save Koenig, until they faced the monster personally.
There is an overall foreboding mood throughout the entire episode. I think that's why it stayed with me for so long.
Has anyone noticed how this quick this episode seems? -
44:30, "So you're back, eh?"
-
Still freaks me out a bit 40 years later, especially that god-awful screeching.

one of the best 70s classic sci fi uk series Space 1999 ever before Star Wars. this classic episode was never ment for children today this would.shown after 9pm even 2day after 40yrs on spine tingling

Seems like every space horror plot with astronauts in trouble has scientifically trained staff who behave incredibly stupidly.
-
Monster themed novelty sunbed safety has improved a lot since the 70's.

This episode gave me nightmares for months, when i was a kid.
-
My brother nicknamed it the oven monster.
-
Russkie Tonny.. lol
-
Too boring
-
Without doubt Space 1999's best episode. The plot could be the starting point of a film in its own.
-
Characters who were school aged in the 1960s and attending universities in the 1970s would have learned using typewriters, and might even prefer them for personal use in the 1990s. I still had to use one at work then, filling out six-layer carbon copies of shipping manifests. Dr. Russel's typewriter is nothing to complain about. Besides, her stationery is cool.

This episode scared the crap out of me as a kid.

what a great story. obvious comparisons here between this and george and the dragon which are made quite clear at the end. love the way this fills in the background of the series and the characters, we could really have done with more stories like this.
