Man alot of people are starting to do this, i am seeing video after video of people setting up their vans with the latest technology and saying screw it deciding to live off the grid,, I am thinking about doing this, with today's technology its not that bad, you can have internet access anything you want basically,,

how much did this run ya?

Nice setup.
I have a question... does it matter how close the panels are to the roof of the van? See how close the center of your panel is to your roof (about half an inch at most)? That is how close mine is going to be all the way across. Is that going to be an issue? Should I raise it up a half inch or so more?
Btw, I do realize that it will make it hard for me to get to the wiring if I need to replace a fuse, etc up there. However, I'm cool with that since I can just lift the panel up simply by unscrewing 4 bolts.
I'm mainly concerned there might be other reasons one might need clearance... like heat issues or something like that. -
Nothing better than doing it yourself. Live the dream and watch the road.

how much money to build the whole thing solar panels and all?
-
Did you film the rest of the build?
-
nice set up I like it

Thanks for taking time to make the video! I'm doing something similar and appreciate the ideas. Do the deep cycle batteries need ventilation or a fan when charging? Wasn't sure if they released fumes or not? Thanks! Scott

2:25 what kind of fuse is that?
-
what kind of fuse did you use?

hey great video, but i have some questions. i'm working on installing solar panels on an old news van i'm converting into a recording studio. there are already metal grates and electrical on the roof, because of an old satellite, but i'm curious about cost and the best fit for a ford e350 rooftop. any insights you have for this sort of thing would be endlessly appreciated.

Hey, how did you manage to mount the panel on the roof without being able to reach the screws from the inside of the van? What is that blue tool you're using? Thanks...sorry about all the questions!

Very nice, like the simplicity of the video, yet informative.

Hey man what was the total cost for this system? Also was there any particular resource like a book or something you used to learn how to so this? Great job by the way looks amazing
-
I dont know that I would of mounted the z brackets in the low valley of the roof, seems that water sitting there would leak into the cab over time
-
When you drilled through the roof, did you anchor the z-brackets to anything, or do the rivets make that unecessary?
-
Is there a way to incorporate the inverter and solar charging in with the vehicle power itself? Or maybe that's how you have it already... I have so many questions.. can you direct me to some great websites for converting vans into stealth RVs with all the amenities? I just bought my first van and all I have found so far is Youtube videos, some great some not so great. Thank you!

Would have been nice if you explained in more detail as you went what you were doing.
