SOLAR POWER AND BATTERY BANKS TRYING TO HELP IT MAKE SENSE. MORE TO COME...
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
Your battery bank is one off your largest investments when it comes to an off grid or battery backup system. Learning how to care for them is very important. Your batterys is one part of your system that has a shelf life. Getting the most out of them is up to you. I do understand that alternative energy is "to say the least"very confusing. I will do my best to clear it up. I will try to do some videos that I feel may help you on your road of making your own energy.

Here we went with the Fork lift batteries which I highly recommend - they can really handle the charge/discharge cycles and had the lowest cost per kW. Just put up the 2nd video in the Relentless Homestead Solar Power "Star-Lite Wars" series - this one shows the battery box build. Saw that you are also using the Outback equipment - nice stuff. I like your setup, provides some flexibility.

Hello, if you are still activelyt answering or responding to comments in your videos, please answer a question for me: I would like to start off with 2 Renegy 100w Solar Panels and 4 of the best power output/long duration power out batteries available, but was wondering if one of the 4 batteries could be one of the following: http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-J5C09-Starter-Built-Compressor/dp/B002X6VXL4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1451272017&sr=8-1&keywords=3-in-1+battery+jump+box? Look forward to your reply! Thumbs up on the videos!

No stupid questions people.... U heard the man he ain't got time lol
-
I like your set up. I thank you have dun a good job.
-
I've heard that it is not good to put your batteries on the cement flat like that. it dos something to them is that true?
-
That's a helluva setup, way more than I'd ever want to get into or could afford, but it sure is nice.
One thing I did notice, your fire extinguisher in not mounted where it should be. It should not be mounted next to all your electrical equipment, it should be mounted by the exit to that room. If those battery banks or the other equipment would short and catch fire, you will not be able to get to the extinguisher. And I'd never buy one of those small extinguishers with a plastic top, they're not rechargeable, and it probably isn't big enough for what you have there. -
Ok.. I just started my solar set up one month ago.. Burned up my first set of Deep cycle 12 volt marine batteries. I only had 3 batteries.. Now I have a group 8d batteries. Two of them.. From what I learned, Golf cart batteries are the way to go.. So I am going to purchase two more Group 8d batteries, Keep that for a few years, save up money and purchase 22 6volt golf cart batteries to replace what I got.. I run the 12 volt system. That is my choice. I prefer it

Is your battery bank kept in the house basement? If so, should we (you), be concerned about battery offgassing hydrogien during charging? I have a simular size bank kept in my garage due to offgassing concerns....but here in michigan , winter affects my battefies....i would love to keep battery bank in my basement for this reason...but i dont know about offgas dangers...if any. Thanks in advance.

Saving energy with the use of renewables such as solar panel would be very easy, cheap and clean..

want to migrate from "on grid" to diy solar and wind. Currently on grid, but my elect co charges me $25 per month just to use their equipment. I keep my bill under $70 per month, even while using AC here in Florida. Winter months, I use a wood stove for heating, so no issue there.

nice video , If anyone else is trying to find the most effective secrets for solar power try Banfan Genie Solar Power (should be on google have a look)? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my co-worker got cool success with it - saved a ton of cash

is it better to use 6v battery or 12 v battery for longer use in emergency?
-
6v batteries hold more amps...Why are you using 12 volt batteries?
-
How many ah are each battery and how long will it run a load?
-
Hey OBX do you actually receive a check from the utility company for excess power and is there a limit on how much you can produce?
-
China - you commented on a video that did not have glass case batteries. No one has glass cased batteries as a battery bank. Your comment has nothing to do with the video. Your comment is antiquated and irrelevant. THAT is the sensible truth. When someone genuinely shares the truth with you, man up and receive it. Now you know more. Why try to perpetuate nonsense?

You are welcome to shake your head, but realize that is a myth. To help you and others believe this is the case, let's hear from the head of R&D for the best battery company in the world. Since You Tube won't allow for me to give you a direct web address, just do a search for Trojan battery tips 9 Battery Myths

Nevermind. I see the red grease on there now. Didn't see that early on.
-
Do you use dielectric grease on your connections? It should help keep the corrosion away.
