Nice clear easy to understand video. thanks

your video series is great and one of the best instructional videos on the topic of solar! got me taking notes. I want to be able to create a system that will provide power for one to two small AC window units for my mother. she is eighty years old and is on a fixed income. How do I figure out the number of panels, wattage, battery needs, wiring gauge etc for accomplishing this project.
Thanks for any assistance or direction you can point me in. -
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF USING FLU PIPE FOR SOLAR ENERGY?

WHAT WOULD YOU DO FOR A MOBILE HOME FOR SOLAR BATTERY POWER?

You could have easily quoted a simple 2KW or 3KW system. People solar is still very expensive and a small 2KW system is about $3000 self installed. Good video but discharge rates in batteries are at the voltage of which they are rated and do not take into consideration that your are converting it into a 120 volt AC system basically to get the usable amperage is divide by 5 for a 24 volt system and 10 for a 12 volt system. People are still puzzled by batteries including the people who sell them. I've had the same trouble out there. Thanks again for taking the time to give people a detailed explanation of solar systems. I have a 2 KW/ 24VDC system that I take great pride in. I installed it myself start to finish.

What is your take on string motor desighns?

WHAT IS THE CHEAPEST WAY TO SOLAR POWER A 70 FOOT MOBLE HOME IN CT.?

i have a solar power system i found the harbor freight panels give power in low light more then mono or poly panels but with a bigger pannels of mono type and a http controler give enough to charge the batterys even in low light! bright sunlight mono or poly give like twice or 3 times the amps of the harbor freight system 45 watt i have 2 sets of them i use stuff in camper so it got to be light enought to move and pack away! the 3 old boat batterys the same way!

hi drew any new update on your solar setup
-
Very good video and lots of good info! But I don't understand why you did not upgrade to a 48vdc system, you could have doubled the # of solar panels going to your Midnite Solar charge controller or if you did not, your amperage would be 1/2 of what it is now, and therefore your charge controller would operate at a much cooler temperature. By the way I have a Midnite Solar Classic 150, a Midnite Solar Kid, and a Magnum 48vdc input, 120/240 vac output inverter, model # MSPAE 4448. Thanks for the video and have a great one! P.S. don't mean to be critical, I'm just wandering why you would make the jump from 12vdc to 24vdc and not go all the way to 48vdc!

Nice vid, thanks.
Is there a smart fuse box system that will automatically use your battery power first, supplement with grid power if nec., then switch over completely to grid power when the batteries are at 50% ?
What do you guys think of the Tesla PowerWall system ? -
Been over a year now. How is the system/batteries holding up?

Hai drew.. your videos are really informative and are helpful. is there any alternative for those batteries. It is really heavy and space consumption plus it's also creating hazardous chemical fumes. Is there any alternative for solar battery which can be used for off grid.

Good video.

Many thanks for responding so soon. Another question/s
1. How do you support/buffer surge from your microwave refrigerator? Do you use a capacitor? If so please explain. My understanding is that the cap will help buffer the surge by providing the juice the microwave needs first before getting the juice from the batteries, thus longer lasting batteries.
2. Grounding. How do you ground your solar panels? Do I ground the rack /rail and panels or just the panels? And do I wire them to the service meter or to the ground.
3. Lighting arrestors, how do I wire them. -
How can i tie this or tie in a transfer switch (protran) ?
