Solar and wind battery bank

This is my new 12v battery bank made of ten Interstate 29D Deep Cycle batteries totaling 1,250 amps for reserve capacity or 2,150 reserve minutes. In a couple of weeks I will be adding another ten batteries to finish this part of the project. That will give me 2,500 amp capacity and close to 5,000 reserve minutes at 25A continuous draw. I got the batteries from Sam's club for $75 dollars each and after comparing many batteries it was not the cheapest but the best battery for the money. These are true deep cycle batteries and not the new thin plate compromise of the deep cycle/cranking battery combination.

Hello, can you help with this problem, I'm getting an big ARC when connecting the the last connection of the battery bank ( 8 6 volt batteries ) in series and paralell. the panels are not connected yet, just trying to get the battery bank hooked up, should I charge the batteries up before I connect them together and can I charge them together of one at a time I only have a car charger The batteries are all new and reading about 6 volts each

Used batteries are never a good idea to install in a solar battery bank.. The bank is drawn down to the voltage of the lowest battery so you could easily negatively effect all the batteries in the bank by having 1 used bad one. Its best to go all new if possible. You can test the voltage of them fully charged to see if they are damaged.

The size of the cable depend on the max amp load you expect to draw. The desulfator I use is called "Battery Life Saver" or BLS and you can get it from eBay or Amazon.

@ImUrtastyflava No, they are all new, why spend money on recycled batteries that you don't know how much lead is left on the plates?

@lpdavisakgto 'cause when I started it was all a big experiment, now that bank is36 volts running a Tripp Lite 36 vol 3.6KW inverter.

Why do you want more amps than volts? With that many batteries, shouldn't you design a 48 volt system?

I'm new at all of this solar/wind stuff.....Al, I appreciate the videos and all of the trial and error that you guys have been through...hopefully it will save us newbies some heartache and expense.
