SOC GX-64 Space Battleship Yamato Review ( Soul of Chogokin Starblazers )
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
I was going to get the American release but I didn't want it to be the "Argo". The Japanese version is supposed to be the same in every way except being called the "Yamato". There is a lot of diecast but less than I expected. This chogokin is nice but feels a lot smaller in person. All things considered I think it is quality but overpriced. It is also a pitty the 2199 design has a much narrower Wave Motion Cannon muzzle.

THERE IS HUNDREDS OF DETAILS YOU MISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's a very very cool model, but the only thing that kind of puts me down is the fact I don't really like space! So when it's sort of a hybrid of a modern battleship and a kinda space theme it's just... disappointing, And Yamato is my all time favorite battleship, and ship. But if they did all the cool modern features like the turrets turning with the side switch thing at the bow, and some of the music with the barrels still going up and down manually, but except the back afterburner engines and things, but just make it look like the normal REAL battleship Yamato, and that would have been absolutely AWESOME, and I would DEFINITLY buy it.

I bought one similar to this in 2001 when I lived in Japan. No electronics then but it was 20,000 en. Wasn't 2199, either. I love mine and this makes me miss living there and getting models as they came out. Love my diecast Macross Valkrys I got while there, too.

You all are a bunch of nitpick erst. The original Japanese release price is ¥28,080, which is $280.00 American. So, it's not a $200 toy, but a $280.00 toy. Besides, it's over 16 inches long. How big do you want it? For 200 bucks, do you want one to pilot yourselves? A model kit that you have to build and paint yourself that is larger is probably around $200. If you can find one under $280, you should snap it up...

I finally bought one of these, and while it's nearly perfect, the rear deck (underneath the third shock cannon) isn't bolted on evenly to the body of the ship and there's something of an awkward gap. Is that normal for this toy?

I love this video and starblazers
-
I want to buy this ship. That`s the price?
-
I would absolutely modify this and put a 1000 lumen CREE LED into the front of the ship and have it fire a full house and lumen 10 second burst when fired
-
they won over $350 for it now it's nowhere near the size it should be for $350 it should be at least a foot and a half long and a larger scale
-
The reason the Yamato had anchors was cause when it goes planetside she lands in the ocean
-
Thank you for your review! While I think this model is fantastic in every way after seeing how small it is it is just not worth the price that people ask for it (usually around $250 USD). To me at that size it's not worth more than $99 with free shipping.

I need this.
-
Where did you bought it.
-
wonder how cool itd be if they actually built a real space yamato ship with the wave motion gun.

Nice review, congrats. Yes it is small, but it has some nice solutions: I confess I've smiled like a kid with the wave motion gun sound and lights...! When I was a boy I used to 'create' an Argo (in Brazil TV used the American name) with parts of my Mom's vacuum cleaner, she was always mad with me hehe. If I saw something like this toy at that time I'd get completely crazy! Pitty it's so expensive.
