I can just imagine Sisko and Picard discussing Q:
Picard: Now, whatever you do, do NOT resort to physical violence against this man. Understood?
Sisko: Yeah... about that... I punched Q a couple times; never heard from his again.
Picard: WHAT?!?!?
Q: Oh yes, moi capitan, he did. He's no fun, so I decided not to play.
Picard: (facepalms) -
I am so glad, holy shit am I glad, that Q only sullied "Deep Space Nine" on this one occasion. He was always a shitty deus ex machina sort of character, smug and facile without nearly enough charm or intelligence to offset it. He deserved getting a clobbering from Sisko.

Q never respected the crew of DS9 like he did the crew of the Enterprise or Voyager in its own way. I think he found this particular crew either below him or just not a challenge. He continuously demeans them and even says they are not as good a crew as that of Picards. Hence why we never see him really after this until Voyager.
-
After that Q never showed up again. I guess Piccard should have just punched him the very 1st time XD
-
When you clock an omnipotent, immortal cosmic entity so hard he never fucks with you again

This is part of what made me not like DS9. That and how harshly he treated Picard.

anyone thinks this really hurt Q at all? He has survived a lot more than this. He imprisoned the enterprise, captured it and it fired photon torpedoes at Q and he shrugged it off and kept coming. So a punch didnt hurt him, he was bating sisko and he fell for it. Thank god he wasnt defending us during humanity trial in encounter at farpoint where Q accused us of being a savage child race. Sisko would have got them all shot, and then doomed humanity to extinction.
Sisko was a thug, pure and simple. firing chemical warheads at planets, total depopulation of civilians. He would have done well serving under palpatine and tarkin. -
Some times you just need a badass black guy to get shit done.
-
The chemistry between Q and Sisko just wasn't right, Q and Jean Luc were the perfect foils for each other.
-
Yes yes, Sisko is the badass Captain.. Too bad the actor doesn't give a shit about the franchise. Watch any of the "Captain Gatherings" events at Cons and such. See for yourself.
-
"Come on,Fight back!" Is Surprised when he gets Punched in the face.
-
I really like Q in all his appearances and his connections with the different captains. But, Picard will always be his favourite and who he respects most.
-
How fortunate for you, Q? Provocation is all you know. Sooner or later, you'll encounter someone more powerful than you, and then even an entire universe's worth of power will mean nothing.

@.23- "This mother fucker..."
-
would love to see a Q type character in doctor who
-
as much as I love Captain Sisko you said it at the end he's a much easier to provoke that's why he left him alone and went back to fuckin with Captain Picard it was boring with no challenge Sisco's was going 2 pop him in the mouth every time
-
Picard took seven years of Q's nonsense and was never able to get rid of him. With one punch to the jaw Sisko ended Q's potential reign on DS9, despite the latter's threat to return ("... you're much easier to provoke, how fortunate for me!"). Sisko dared to deck a being who literally had the power to move galaxies from one location to another...and Q never returned. I wonder if that punch earned Q's respect for Sisko. Another character Q never trifled with was Guinan (TNG). He never tried any of his tricks with her, and the TNG episode where Q literally thrust Picard & Co. into the Borg's awareness she initially warned Q of the dangers of it. He could have snapped her silent or sent her away but he did no such thing.

Now I understand why they cast him as Discord :)

I'm really they never did more with Q being here, would have loved to have seen him engage in the Bajoran's spiritual leaders.

Sisko almost gave some ZZZs to Q.
