This incident is what killed my dreams of being an astronaut at age 8. :/

I was there and i knew that it would explode. When i saw that thing explode i said "fuck, i knew they shouldnt have launched it
-
Must be very disappointing for you Gen Xers, who were very fond of space travel.
-
fake and gay
-
more conspiracy bs. everyone knows it was muslim terrorists which melted the steel girders that made challenger explode.
-
I feel sorry for the victims loved ones. I can't imagine how devastated they were to witness this disaster.

Launching under cold conditions? Why January of all months and days? I was 12 when I saw this tragedy unfold on TV at school homeroom period. Shocking and unbelievable. No longer naive about government and management "only give a shit about schedules and money" assholes.
-
Has anyone noticed the fact that different shuttles are used in the making of this?
-
Just as fucking upsetting as it was as a kid.

A disaster always holds solutions after the fact. This tragedy could have been prevented through no regard to timetables or stupid managers.

Yes, I recall that when the Columbia disaster happened, a high-up in NASA didn't seem to know that momentum equals mass * velocity, so that even if the mass is relatively low (foam), if the velocity is very high then momentum could still be very high. Then, of course when the foam hits the wing leading edge, force equals rate of change of momentum. This is all basic physics but the high-up in NASA didn't seem to have a clue!

these are the worst subtitles I have ever seen someone was tripping when they added them.

No matter how many years pass after such an event happens, you can remember exactly what you were doing or where you were when it does. I was in the mall watching this live on the McDonald's tv. Yeah even that long ago there was a tv in McDonald's. About 10 minutes later I left the McDonald's and walked through the mall and everywhere you looked people were talking about it. The launch was a major ordeal at the time because of the teacher. I can still remember the happiness on the faces of people and then watching it turn to confusion, shock, and even fear.
So it appears Handsome Jack caused the crash with slag from the Eridium runoff. -
This is so...sickening. The ONE person who should have been promoted was the one who resigned. He stood up to NASA, was proved right, 7 people died because no one would listen to him- the man should be honoured for what he tried to do.
Our governments always seem to promote those who least deserve it. Ugh -
But why didn't the boosters explode when the ship and the external tank exploded. why were they still fully intact and had to be destroyed by remote. You think they would've been destroyed in the blast too. Just wondering.
