Seattle Monorail Ride-Complete Ride from Space Needle to Downtown
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
http://www.vancesova.com Watch Seattle monorail ride. This is a complete ride from Space Needle to downtown Seattle. This video also shows a view of Space Needle from right below it just in front of the monorail station and later and briefly from the monorail train. Before that you'll get a look at the monorail train station and the signs showing the fare ticket prices. Then you can see the monorail train arriving at the station and what it looks like inside the train and enjoy the ride and views of Seattle. There are only two trains running between the two monorail stations. One is blue and one is red. The monorail is owned by the city of Seattle and it's full name is Seattle Center Monorail. It was built for the Seattle 1962 World Fair by a German company called Alweg Rapid Transit Systems. The Seattle monorail is self-supporting, it doesn't lose money and doesn't need to be subsidized by the city. It is still using the original Alweg trains from 1962 that were built in Germany and, shipped through New York, arrived to Seattle on freight train. They have, however, been refurbished and technically updated. They have already traveled over one million miles. They went over one million miles In 2004. The Seattle monorail is the only original Alweg monorail still standing. But new monorails are still being built by Hitachi who bought Alweg licence already in 1960 and by Bombardier that also acquired some Alweg related technology. The monorail ride in Seattle is very enjoyable. It is a bit more bumpy than I expected but the view is wonderful. Enjoy.

Seattle Monorail is like Rivers State Monorail

The worlds most expensive 2 block transit system ;p.

Thats quite an interesting system. I like the 60s design. Watch the monorail in Wuppertal, Germany (my Hometown :>). It is more than 100 years old and is the best and fastest way to get anywhere in the city. It is also an unique system worldwide. In 1900 the german emperor took a ride with it :>

Thank you very much. I've seen the monorail before but this was my first time riding it. A German company Alweg built this monorail and the trains were made in Germany too. It's surprising to know that there's no monorail built by that company left in Europe or anywhere else in the world. But two different companies, a Japanese company Hitachi and a Canadian company Bombardier still build monorails and monorail trains using Alweg based technology.
