Here is the solar charging system I made for my RV which will be parked for the season at the lake: Three 12V 75Ah AGM batteries in parallel for a total Reserve Capacity of 225 Ah in plastic box with cover - $ 1000 One 135W 12V Solar Panel with 30' of 10 AWG PV wire - $ 200 Morningstar SunSaver 20A PWM Solar Charge Controller - $ 120 Two LED Volt and Ammeters with 100A Shunts to measure load and solar supply. Bought from eBay - cheap $ 30 for both including shipping from China! Breaker panel - $ 100 125A fuse and holder - $ 75 2 AWG welding cable - $ 200 1000 Watt Pure Sine Wave inverter $ 150 Total project price = $ 2000 Future upgrades: Another 135W panel I thought of getting a Trimetric 2025RV meter, but instead I think I will build my own with a Raspberry Pi and a A/D converter connected to the shunts. I would like to build a fuel guage showing how many Amp-Hours used and put back in from the batteries since it was last fully charged. I plan on uploading the data analytics up through 3G connection so I can access from my iPhone.
