This HAS to be President Reagan's greatest speech.

Listen to, We Lost The Sea: Departure Songs. Amazing instrumental album that tells 4 story's about true heroic deaths. The Challenger is a 2 part song to end the album, and Regan's speech is at the end of part 2.

Just goes to show politicians don't make a great president. An actor will go down in history as one of the greatest that we have ever had. Definitely the greatest in modern history.

The crew of the Space Shuttle Challenger honored us in the matter they lived their lives. We will never forget them or the last time we saw them this morning as they prepared for their journey and waved goodbye. And slipped the surrely bonds of Earth to touch the face of God... Wow!! What a beautiful ending to that amazing speech!!

Owl City brought me here.

I strongly disagree with Reagan's politics but this address is speech writing perfection. The tone, the content, everything. And put together on such short notice. Unbelievable effort.
-
Reagan finished the speech and he thought it was a bust. He had a feeling that he had screwed up; that he had failed. How wrong he was in his self analysis! This was a great speech.

One of my heroes. God bless this good man for his dedication and his strong heart. And for the love he had for America. President Ronald Reagan was a real president. Ronald Reagan believed in doing the right thing. He never justified communism or terrorism, when important people died he mourned, and honored their memories, and expressed his love to their loved ones. He loved children. President Reagan had a sense of humor. When I hear this wonderful man speak it brings tears to my eyes and helps me to remember that there are still good politicians in our Government just like President Reagan.

I think it's the best speech in the history of our country...I can't even make it through it without tearing up. I could give a fuck-less about his politics in this moment, because he made everyone feel like he was your Dad, trying to explain something you didn't understand. I always come back to this as an example of how politicians are actually able to impact people's lives.

---Because this was to be the first mission that included a civilian (McAullife), and because she was a school teacher, the Reagans took a special personal interest in the crew; they had all of the members of the Challenger crew to the White House for dinner on more than one occasion. Christa M. was a particular favorite of both Reagans, and they had her & her husband visit more than once...Thus, when the Challenger accident happened, the Reagans really were devastated...Nancy Reagan burst into tears, and Reagan's aides said when he first heard the news, he just kept shaking his head, saying, "That poor, little girl (McAullife)"...
