Mario 4: Space Odyssey is one of the vast amount of Russian pirated games developed in the 2000's and sold at a few Russian markets. This particular game was made from scratch, possibly by New Game, featuring the famous Nintendo character Super Mario. This time, we play in a world menaced by a foreign space force, the Shroobs, and our mission is to complete all the stages in order to save the world. This game have lots of unusual or striking things. For the graphic section, almost all the stage graphics used in this game were stolen from New Super Mario Bros for the Nintendo DS and the enemies' sprites were maybe stolen from some game that belongs to Yoshi's Island series. The soundtrack is possibly the best part of the game, showing an amazing amount of music tracks and also some techno themes, some of them belongs to Doom Troopers for the Sega Genesis, also the scream sound used in the pirated game (thanks to s2325 for the information). Maybe one of the worst thing in this game, in spite of having good graphics and a mixed soundtrack, is that there are elements like the scream sounds (stolen from 3D Maze Man - Adventures in Winter Wonderland), the introduction screens and the Game Over screen that give the game an odd and scary ambience, which makes it not recommendable for kids (thanks Pacman80 for the information about the scream sound). However, the creepy ambience is not the worst part of the game, but its gameplay. Actually, Mario's jumping length relies heavily on his speed movement, so you will need to gain speed in order to perform a good jump. This element, added with terrible game controls, very small platforms and the fact that you will die with any collision with your enemy, make this game somewhat tedious and unplayable. And in other respects, the enemies found at the starting levels are always the same (Koopas, Bob-Ombs and Boos), there's only one mushroom in the game (or at least for now...) and there are no physical changes when you collect a mushroom, however, it does protect you from enemies and also allows you to break blocks. This is a rare Mario pirated game, due to its level of difficulty and because it's a very repetitive game, I don't recommend it to impatient people, but for any person who wants to play it, I have to say that the games turns somewhat easy after you get to the second stage of the game: http://www.mediafire.com/download/5qq654dlouxoht1/Pirate+Showcase+-+Mario+4+%28Genesis%29.rar ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
