This version just sounds more rounded, complete and ethereal than the original version. I also like the pulse version of Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2 more.

TEMASO TEMASO!!!!!!

This is by far the best version of Astronomy Domine - its very heavy in its guitars and played perfectly -
-
I miss the Farfisa Organ here which was so vital to their output 1967-1972.

They opened with this when I saw them the first time - 5th row Vancouver '94. The drums coming in out of the dark like they were calling forth the apocalypse, thinking OMG it's actually Floyd in the shadows steps before me. And then Rick's steady English voice taming it so beautifully...and the lights went up...and there they were. God bless you, Rick.

Pulse is by far the Best and it's a compliment to Syd that they Loved him so much and respected what he started to turn one of his songs into a Perfection Masterpiece!

Personally I think that this is the best recording of Astronomy Domine. All the instruments and vocals just click so perfectly together, the bassist is clearly just playing around but still manages to sound as polished and clean as possible. Dave and Richard's vocals complement each other perfectly. And last but not least, the guitar and organ solos reach perfection.

I love this version too... kinda exploratory to the original. Pink Floyd = I LOVE.
-
Reminds me of 8th grade, lol
-
The one with Syd Barrett, live or recorded is still better.
-
That bass... That voices, that solo... simply Pink Floyd... Almost like the original versión but this song is beautiful...
-
This version isn't to bad i like it

As much as I love Syd, he was almost completely dysfunctional when the band stopped playing with him, so there is no answer to your query.
-
omg that guitar solo is so pure and sweet
-
I always wonder what would have happen if Syd Barrett would have stayed with the band. Would they have stayed Psychadellic or just moved onto experimental rock like they are right now.
-
really good rockin' version! I like it :)
-
Almost 30 years after they wrote it, they bang it out authoritively- maybe lacking Waters? Who knows? This version of this song rocks.
