About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery

That's amazing

This was incredible how you blasted through LR2 and PS. I have been using DSS to stack images taken with my T3i modified camera and ED80 on a Sirius mount. Wondering if I could stack the deep sky images with LR2 like you did instead?
I like using LR2 and PS and I have used StarTools (but some modules are slow) along with PS and LR2. I just downloaded the PS plugin Astronomy Tools which I really like. However, it seems like PS and LR2 does everything these other programs can do. Do you use any other programs like PixInsight or just stick with LR2 and PS?
I really want to get better with processing and you made it look easy. If you are ever in Connecticut and need an intern, give me call. Cheers Kurt -
Hi there, I am currently using sony a7ii and 28mm f/2z One thing i was confused is since i cannot change the exposure time and f/ number while taking the following shots, i dont think I am able to take 32 shots only by using different iso. Can I also change the exposure time as well instead of iso only?

Hello, I have a Nikon D7000. I am thinking of getting the Samyang 14 or 24mm lens. Will this be a good setup for astrophotography? Cheers

finally a well detailled tutorial ! Best of all

Awesome guide! thanks

please help! Every time I try to apply median filter, the resulting image is very blurry. When I try to align the layers, it tells me it can not because less than 40% of the image overlaps due to the rotation of earth/night sky. So now I am stuck. Any tips?

At some point after the second gaussian blur application I converted to Scientology and decided to kill myself.

That's ridiculous. I mean, brilliant. But y'know, ridiculous to learn! Quite a process. My concern is that in the colour layer you're choosing which colours to enhance, rather than simply enhancing the actual colours of the gasses, which the naked eye can't see. I always believed astro photography to be an enhancement of the colours we can't see. This seems more like you're choosing to enhance the magenta or the blue, for example, which is giving an inaccurate representation of the actual colours of Orion. It means that when I'm seeing an image I'm not seeing an accurate image, but a photographer's (photo editor's) creation, yes?

Great tutorial. Thanks!

I really liked this video.

photoshop cant seem to align images correctly, im guessing thios has something to do with some stars moving faster than others? any ideas?

I am pretty good at Photoshop, and I'll be honest with you.............you just blew my mind with this tutorial! KUDOS! Great job.

Nice work! Great tutorial!

Awesome video. I never knew I could stack directly in photoshop. I always stack in Deep Sky Stacker and then process in photoshop. Liked and subscribed.
Cheers and clear skies! -
With this method, there is no need for dark and flats subs that are needed with other softwares such as Deep Sky Stacker? Why is this stacking so different in that regard?
thanks!! -
Hello. I have a Canon EOS 1100D, the 18-55mm f3.5 and the 50mm f1.8. Would this camera and lenses be good for milky way astrophoto and constellation imaging?(bootes, cygnus, lyra, scorpius)

Is the sensor in the Sony camera modified in any way to record all those red nebula?
Wonderful video!! thank you for the time you put in those tutorials. -
