That's a really cool take on the assignment! I've already posted the video for book 3; so when you're done reading it, let me know what you thought on that video!

I'm reading this (to help my 2 kids write papers about it) and found myself enjoying it much more when I found an audio mp3 file read by an English gent. It does ramble quite a bit but Chapter 7 when Weston arrives is when it really takes off! Their challenge is to write about pleasure, warfare and obedience within OOTSP and Perelandra concerning a character so one is working the Weston angle the other chose Ransom. Interesting to ponder. Good stories so far, I'm reading #3 now too. Cheers!

I've still got to read That Hideous Strength. Perelandra was incredible though. True, it was slow at times, but the concept of the story itself was genius. Such an interesting way to sort of adapt the story of the garden of Eden into something much deeper and more drawn out than what people tend to get out of the original story. It enforced a great deal of really impacting ideas into my mind and really helped me to come to a better understanding of what "love" even means.

Hey thanks! I'm finding that That Hideous Strength is a much quicker read, but almost twice as long.

Interesting to hear your thoughts. I enjoyed the trilogy immensely. Out of the Silent Planet seemed to me to be like the standard sic-fi with a Lewis world-view. Perelandra is the solid entry into the conflict between good and evil. It was a wonderful, romantic (in the old sense) trip through Eden. I found the slow down in the end with the hymns that were sung to Maladil (sp?). Other than that, I enjoyed the pace. Hideous Strength is not slow, it is dense, a lot to chew on. Enjoy.
