Since it’s opening roughly 2 weeks ago, Japan’s Space World skating rink has been a popular attraction.  However, in recent days, controversy erupted over the center’s decision to freeze 5,000 dead fish into the ice.  Many enraged citizens took to social media, with one calling the move, “disrespectful of life" and another characterizing it as, “Japan’s shame."  On Monday, Space World’s manager said to CNN, “We were shocked to hear the reaction...We are sorry for the project and decided to close the rink on that night."  It has also been announced that the fish were dead when they were purchased.  There are plans to hold a service for the dead creatures and then use their carcasses as fertilizer.
