http://www.longplays.org Played By: Eino I've been waiting for somebody to play through the 21 mission Deathwing campaign, but since nobody seemed to be interested I decided to play this one myself ;-) Might not be the most exciting thing to watch if you're not into these type of games. Good video game conversion nonetheless, fun and challenging. Better than HeroQuest and Space Crusade games imo. In addition to the campaign there are 30 turorial and single missions. Mission difficulty varies a lot during the campaign, but last missions were not the most difficult ones. It's essential to spend lots of time on map screen in order to plan squad movement and also to track movement of enemy units. There's a promotion system in the game. Surviving squad gains experience which increases shooting and close-combat capabilities. If a squad is lost the experience will be lost aswell. Amiga version has better intro & menu music, but doesn't have speech (huge minus) so I ended up playing the DOS version. There's also a CD-ROM version which adds extra 9 missions and more digitized speech. I decided to play the floppy version because the most obvious difference I noticed was that the marines constantly yell "overwatch" and this gets annoying after a while. 01:04 - Intro 03:26 - Menacing Images 05:02 - Witch Hunt 06:43 - Baneful icon of the Foe 09:18 - Deliverance 12:44 - Extrication 15:48 - Purge 19:16 - Ante-Chamber 23:30 - The Perimeter 26:27 - Funeral Pyre 35:23 - Testament to Honour 44:58 - Descent 49:46 - Web of Flames 59:17 - To the Emperor 1:07:44 - Search for Evil 1:11:46 - The Seed of the Enemy 1:16:53 - Tech Support 1:22:48 - Ultimate Firepower 1:29:17 - The Echelon of Foul Spawn 1:35:50 - Honour on Trial 1:38:35 - Final Confrontation 1:42:21 - Avenged 1:44:36 - Ending

Man this was intense, I have never been this excited while watching someone else playing a game. I mean there were so many close calls on this playthrough, like the one where you literally slam a door in the face of a genestealer at the end of a mission. Also it's immersive as hell to see you panic as well, yeah it can be seen at times. Too bad I never got to finish the Deathwing campaign, my Amiga rebooted everytime after the goals were met in The Seed of the Evil, it was a flaw in the diskette I believe. Wish they made this game again, Space Hulk: Ascension isn't RTS, and the new upcoming Space Hulk: Deathwing apparently isn't strategy at all. Anyway thank you for uploading this, best ~106 minutes I have spent in a while.

It's a shame the newer ones doesn't even come close to this old classic. They're more a fps like doom or quake rather than being a strategic game.
-
Which version is it? I don't remember those animated cutscenes in-between missions on DOS.
-
If the Emperor really dictated my squad's weaponry, how comes I get all this janky ass crap that jams all the freaking time?
Heresy, heresy everywhere! -
5:15 dat face speed tho

I used to play this game for hours! It was so difficult. To be honest I think it still looks pretty good for a game that is over 20 years old, obviously back then these graphics were simply amazing :) I remember how excited I was when I had bought this in its huge cardboard box :) The Amiga version had much better sound but teh PC version ran faster.

I don't know why but these oldschool 2d animated cutscenes look really beautiful to me. Sega CD Frankenstein is another example.

That opening
-
Music is crap compared to amiga version... but it seems it was done by the same guy.

"Dai, flimebull"

This game rocked. The planing phase paused the game for a limited amount of time, so you would plot orders whilereal time was going a lot. Pressure.
-

Man, I haven't heard that opening intro in 20 years.

Are people allowed to download this game free off the internet?

Eino somehow you've managed to make this awesome game seem incredibly boring. It probably would have been better to start with the normal campaign as it has a better mix of action. Deathwing was watered down to appease the p%ssies.
For those who don't think this looks fun or tense... You have to actually play it to really appreciate what they accomplished with this game. It's not a simple one on one adaption of the board game like the recent failed IOS port... This is a true evolution of the boardgame into a real time game with an innovative limited planning/pause feature I've never seen in any other games since. -
@kbnftyd yeah you go that right DUDE! i think you would enjoy this game have a look: is.gd\hvZIwW
