Thank you so much, I was confused between 123 and 124 .Now I can decide.
-
Did you pass the course? I sat the last sitting of this course and studied my ass off! It paid off, I got a distinction.
-
anyone got any info on M337 complex analysis? is the exam difficult?
-
If you have A - Levels in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry, are you allowed to skip the GCSE and A - Level sections of the OU degrees?
-
Hi can you please let me know what degree you are doing from open university and what is the meaning of modules..???
-
There's an exam for a level 1 course? I did MST121 but with no exam, currently doing MST224 (which is a challenge) - good luck!
-
Is this math at university? It surprises me since we do that math in high school in my country and it's actually considered basic.

I agree with not writing on books. However, you'll want to make an exception for the handbook. You can take that into the exam, and I suggest writing a few example pp questions that you found difficult, at the back, at the very least. Could do it in pencil I suppose.

I have the exam for this in a little under 12 hours. I started revising on Saturday. I am actually quite shocked at how easy the exam looks to be. I got 42 in my first mock exam, then 54% and then 66% in the third. This is bearing in mind that I do a full-time PhD. I suppose the key is not to feel overwhelmed just by looking at it and just get stuck in.
Do you know which modules you're doing in future, and how many credits are you doing per year? -
I'm half way through MST124. I probably started it at the same time that you did. It's a really wonderful module! My GCSE maths grade was a U, but I'm so far doing really well on this and enjoying it since it explains things so well.

I am doing the first course mu123.(the one you do before mst124)
-
I was supposed to be doing this module now. Cancelled it so I can do it in October instead. Got free books out of it.
-
You should've attended eric's course. You wasted your time. :P
-
Looks like nice thorough material - well lots of detail there.
Take your time, watch the lectures, do the assignments and make sure you ask questions when you need to. Everyone will know some subject areas better than others.
Let me know if you have trouble when you get to the matrix math section (as long as the cobwebs in my brain are not too thick of course :)). -
Forgot to say.
I'm VERY heavily into gaming both PS3 and XBOX
Gonna stay away from the new consoles because they haven't 'wowed' me enough with the games that are on offer so far.
Besides, I've got plenty of other games I haven't yet touched. -
I'm just starting MST124 as well - my actual start date is January 31st
And like you, I do shift work (I think you mentioned it ).
I'm at work now (Jan 17th 1930 hrs) going thru the units.
Good luck with your course. -
Good luck! I am about halfway through MST124. You can take your handbook into the exam with you, and you are allowed to make notations. The notations need to be written into the book though, and no loose pages or Post-its. I am waiting until revision to decide what to write in it.
It can be a tough course, but it's rewarding. -
Use post-it notes instead of writing on books.
-
Looks impossible! I can't get past entry level 3! Hope the OU can fix my learning disability :). Did they give out computers in the past? I had an Amstrad 1512 with OU stickers on it!!
-
I feel the same way as you about writing on books - it's just wrong even if you own it. My solution at uni was to write on Post-Its and stick them in the book, but it did get messy. I went totally PDF on research papers a few years back so that I can always carry them around and not worry about damaging them by annotating.
