Newly Discovered Planet is Still Being Formed | ESO Space Science Astronomy HD Video
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
Visit my website at http://www.junglejoel.com - astronomers observing a disc of gas and dust around the young star HD 100546, located 335 light-years from Earth, have discovered what seems to be a planet in the process of being formed. This protoplanet candidate is a gas giant, similar to Jupiter - though still embedded in the disc of material around the young star. This video animation is a hypothetical fly-through of the HD 100546 system. Please rate and comment, thanks! Credits: ESO L. Calçada

Oh so it will never bee solid? ....and of course I was just kidding about the 6,000 years,
-
just love it n no telling whats out there.

It might. It's only it's its earliest stages, so solid matter might form later on. Even if not, who's to say there couldn't be lifeforms that can survive in a solely gaseous envirornment? If science teaches us anything, it teaches us life is always full of suprises...

wow... informative

"This protoplanet candidate is a gas giant, similar to Jupiter" so I don't think so since it's a gas planet.

A brand new planet?...How amazing! ..So in 6,000 years it will have civilization just like us, right?
