National Geographic | Journey To Jupiter - Documentary HD 720p
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
Light travels at a speed of 299,792 km per second (186,282 mps). That’s fast. Jupiter is 778,500,000 km (483,737,000 miles) from the Sun. That’s far. To try to convey the vastness of space, Alphonse Swinehart created this animation to illustrate that even at the blistering speed of light, it takes over 45 minutes just to reach Jupiter.

Not actually 720p. So tired of this.

7:29 - 7:32 It's disgusting to see supposedly "brilliant" minds engaged in such mental masturbation nonsense... because, let's be honest, We already live in the only place that exhibits the most fascinating variety of life in parsecs and parsecs... yet We're completely oblivious to precious life forms fading away forever, every day, while we devote billions to keep these wackos staring at computers monitors, looking at lifeless, barren deserts in other planets, while they keep repeating the same weak premise: "we should learn how the [ planet, solar system, universe ] began, or how life began.

How come they don't show the fire balls in infra red entering the Girdle of Thor and bouncing around ripping up the spindle of Jupiter and casting chunks of debris out towards the sun that is the cause of all asteroids that pass by earth but you can see in the still shots the heat created by this event ? ?

The author of 'earth in upheaval' & 'worlds in collision' -can't f*ing remember his name, believes Jupiter gave birth to venus via an almighty volcanic eruption from, or causing the big red spot on Jupiter. Venus then collides with mars, both forming new orbits. -Well worth checking out.

It's amazing how many dum down stupid morons believe NASA.

I'm uncomfortable with the phrase 'tiny probe'.

Our sun is a star, (dubbed Sol) the planets orbiting this star forms the solar system. Makes me wonder if Jupiter is or may be a star which failed to 'ignite', accompanied by its curious 'moons' giving Jupiter its own system. Binary systems are common, perhaps data from the JUNO project will reveal that we live in a unique binary system. One fully active and operating star and the other....?

Imagine them finding life and they analyze their DNA.. what could they find?? could they even have DNA?
-
I thoroughly enjoyed it ;)

The intro asserts (I paraphrase):
Jupiter captures people's imagination more than any other (non-Earth) planet.
Blatant hyperbole.
I'd say it's Mars that does that by a long chalk, if works by science fiction writers are reasonably representative of what planets people like to imagine. -
life can be anywhere, we think that the Earth is the only life in the SS but no,we adapted to our surrondings, so basically, we could survive anywhere if we adapted to it, we could breathe carbon and let out oxygen, we could have evolved to not eating, drinking nor breathing, life or species/creatures could be on the Sun, or on Pluto or Venus.Life could even be in space on a asteroid.Just think about it, if we adapted to Earth, We can adapt to anything,Life can and most likely will be in space and all around us.
