National Geographic | Astrobiology & Space Travel - Documentary 2016 HD 720p
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
Scientists speculate on how life originated on earth based on the range of conditions where life survives today and the conditions that existed on the early earth. They then look for those conditions, past or present, that may exist on other planets or moons. The many and various hazards to space travel are explained. But solving that problem better propulsion systems are need to travel anywhere beyond the moon. Some possibilities, both realistic and speculative, are described.

Reading some of the comments about this documentary proves to me that we haven't achieved intelligent life on this planet yet. At least not on his continent.

0:53 so racist!!! But I ain't a nigger... And a racist...

I hate it when they say speed of light is the speed limit of the universe. Just cause we haven't figured it out how yet doesn't mean a more advance civilization has. Maybe their understanding of physics, space and time is more advanced then ours. Better response would be is the speed of light is "probably" the speed limit of the universe.

This document is crap get it off youtube!

Inspirational vibes !

hes becoming homoelaptopicus

How are we supposed to coexist with life from another planet when we can't even coexist with life on our own planet? I hope that we never find intelligent life on another planet, it'd be only a matter of time before we figure out either something that they know or something that they have that we could exploit them for.

This is not national Geographic! What speculative bogus.

This isn't 2016

i always thought having a spaceship rear to be a giant magnet with another magnet run pistions up and down to make it move one backwards pushing the ship forward is a great w2ay to have unlimited power compared to using fuel or air was a good idea.on another note why not boil sea water to create steam to make fresh water in massive silos to refill our rivers and lakes I mean we have so much sea water why not it would reduce sea levels giving tsunamis less power to roll over us and then all we would need to do is re freeze the north and south pole with 80 per of all the copper around the world run off giant power plants to re freeze the noth and south pole to reflect the suns rays back to space cooling the planet we can do all this 3rd world problems fixed but the powers to be want half the population dead first

Title is click bait

nice information

This is really old. The mars rover hadn't even landed when this was made.

Seti is rather silly. To travel interstellar space you would need to travel faster then light. Why would you use a medium that is only the speed of light to communicate? It would be like mailing a letter to your aunt telling her you are coming, then hopping on a plane and showing up a week before the letter gets there.
If they got REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLY lucky they may catch some random radio/tv type signal if it just happens to survive interstellar travel and the multi millenia journey that is. -
ok wait, something just occurred to me (and i'm not smart by any means so i doubt i'm onto something here), at 1:06:46 why didn't they go the opposite direction to shave time off of the return trip? With the planet constantly moving away from you, it'd be easier to cut it off from the opposite side would it not?

Our music mixed with alien music. is it like Rings of Saturn's next album ? xD

i like these documentary, alot of good stuff and important knowledge, but they do lie sometimes. Fx it is possible to have oxygen on earth without plants. Plankton produces just as much oxygen as plants, and plankton is not plants.
