NASA Eyes on the Solar System: Juno Mission to Jupiter
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
Today I'd like to share with you the awesome things I learned while attending the Juno NASATweetup, held August 4-5, 2011. We heard exciting details from many mission scientists, got a behind-the-scenes tour of Kennedy Space Center and watched Juno launch atop its giant Atlas V rocket! Here's a short set of videos I took at the NASATweetup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3D2avuHIqo To show you Juno and its mission ahead, I'm using the "Eyes on the Solar System" program from NASA/JPL. Its a real-time solar system exploration tool, similar to Celestia as you may have seen in previous videos of mine. You can try Eyes on the Solar System for yourself, here: http://solarsystem.nasa.gov/eyes/ If you'd like to learn more about Juno, follow the mission on Twitter and YouTube: http://twitter.com/#!/NASAJuno http://www.youtube.com/user/NASAJuno Also, if you are interested in future NASATweetup events, follow them on Twitter or check the website below for more info on how to sign up! http://twitter.com/#!/NASATweetup http://www.nasa.gov/tweetup Thanks for watching!

I'm an amateur astronomer as well and I have to say that this program along with Celestia are the most boring pieces of software I've come across. You learn absolutely nothing from either. They are both just purely visual eye candy software and after about 30 minutes of playing with them and having a look around I simply yawned and got quickly bored and tired of it. I would rather use my paid for astronomy planetarium software programs which is chock full of clickable information on everything.

I made an image in this program and now they're using it on the homepage promotion item number 5 at solarsystem.nasa. gov (my real name's Fraser)

Kurt, did they put a golden record, or something, on it, like what they did with Voyager

This vid gets a 14! Yes, I watched and rated this vid, too! You got a problem with that? ;D It's worth noting that I am currently in college, blowing off doing homework (yes, I procrastinate...my problem, not yours! ;D), and I liked this vid. At first it was boring and I was tempted to skip it on account of it not being an LP, but I stuck with it, and I learned stuff and it was cool. I thought Jupiter was a gas giant and that gas giants were, by definition, not dense, so that was neat...

2015... we learn about Pluto?? COOL!!!
