This looks just like a super mario world romhack from smw central, although it's a pirated game on the megadrive.

I have a small heart attack every time I jump over pits, which is why I don't play platformers like Mario anymore :/ Also, those game over screens are fantastic, the best kind of morbid.

One of my aunts got an NES as a wedding gift back in the 80s and she used to have nightmares about falling in world 1-3 in the original Super Mario.

Nice review on the game. I really enjoyed the narration. I had a quick question...if you wanted to play this game on genesis, would you have to make any modifications to the cartridge?

What you said about the black depths reminded me of a machinima I saw a couple years ago where Mario tried to jump over a pit but fell in. But he didn't die and just ended up standing on the bottom of the screen, then he looked down and realized the pit was full of Mario corpses.

Great review, man! This is one of my favorite pirated games. Did you know that it actually has a prequel, Mario 3: Around the World? It has the same gameplay as this one, but it doesn't have any bosses. The game over screen on that one is waaaay worse...
