BioShock Infinite is a first-person shooter video game and the third installment in the BioShock series. Previously known as "Project Icarus", it is being developed by Irrational Games and was released worldwide on the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 platforms on March 26, 2013. BioShock Infinite is not part of the storyline of previous BioShock games but features similar gameplay concepts and themes. Set in 1912 during the growth of American Exceptionalism, the game's protagonist, former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, is sent to the floating air-city of Columbia to find a young woman, Elizabeth, who has been held captive there for the last twelve years. Though Booker rescues Elizabeth, the two are pursued by the city's warring factions; the nativist and elite Founders that strive to keep the city for pure Americans, and the Vox Populi, a rebel grouping representing the common people. Booker finds Elizabeth to be central to this conflict, and that she also holds strange powers to manipulate rifts in the time-space continuum that ravage Columbia. The player controls Booker throughout the game, eventually working with the AI-controlled Elizabeth. Like previous BioShock games, the player uses a combination of weapons, gear, psychokinetic powers granted through vigors and Elizabeth's own powers to fight off hostile foes and make their way through Columbia. In contrast to the limited spaces of the underwater city of Rapture, the open-air city of Columbia provides for more combat challenges, including combat that takes place aboard the city's Skyline rollercoaster-like rail system. The game will also feature an optional "1999 Mode", harkening back to games like System Shock 2 where decisions made by the player will have a more permanent impact on the game, possibly leading the player to an unwinnable situation and requiring a restart from an earlier saved game. Lead designer Ken Levine was inspired by both historical events at the turn of the 19th century, as well as more recent ones including the "Occupy" protests. The floating city of Columbia was envisioned as a homage to the 1893 Worlds Fair along with other media from the turn of the century, and 2K Marin was brought in to help realize the city in-game. Levine took an unorthodox approach with the voice actors for Booker and Elizabeth, Troy Baker and Courtnee Draper, respectively, by developing the script and details of the story alongside them during their voice work, allowing them to help define the characters and deliver more convincing performances within the game. BioShock Infinite has received early pre-release attention, winning several awards including the "Best of Show" at the 2011 E3 show.

CCR Fortunate Son, I LOL

18:06 I know this is an old video and I also know Odd does it on habit, but there really isn't any advantage to reload a one-shot weapon, such as the hand cannon, before it's empty, it's the opposite, really.

> Turns away from massive unexplored area
>"So now we've fully explored this area"... head, meet desk. -
I was raised on classic rock (not trying to sound lewronggeneration it was shoved into my ears by my dad) so I am always a bit taken aback when someone, specifically a North American adult doesn't recognize a song like "Fortunate Son" immediately.
There is no point to this comment, I was just irrationally upset for a minute that he didn't have an "ahaaa" moment. -
3:23 dude Columbia is living in the past (1900's) (not a spoiler) because they built a flying city after the civil war or something and don't know anything about what is going on now that times have changed, and the outside world is modern (2000's). Stop saying Columbia is the present and the dimensional rifts are in the future.

AHHH you missed a cypher!

the one thing i really hated about this game is the fact that they had these stereotypical chinese accents on models that didn't even look chinese? like considering that they were concentrated on a racism centric plot they could have tried harder.

Tears go through time and/or space.

Am I the only one that gets annoyed at how often he's pissing the in-game people off? A lot of the game experience comes when people AREN'T shooting at you. Yet he's constantly walking into blocked areas, or stealing stuff in front of people, and ruining the mood of everything.

In the late 1800s and early 1900s, the Pinkerton Detective Agency was often hired to break up strikes and labor organization. The methods they used to stop unionizing and labor strikes was generally to murder the ringleaders who were trying to organize the workers.

did nobody notice the bodies in the furnace...

And it doesn't help that Troy Baker voiced both Booker and Joel. :)

So, is anyone else feeling a similar narrative theme between Bioshock Infinite and The Last of Us? Not as it pertains to the setting or anything, but more so with the characters. Not only do Joel and Ellie share a similar dynamic with Booker and Elizabeth, but even Marlene, who leads the Firefly resistance reminds me of Daisy Fitzroy and her Vox Populi. Just a weird similarity for two games that came out the same year. Lol

Finkton reminds me of Sander Cohen in this scene
