thanks for the concern mit grad. i live in a rural area, the yard is fenced in, and i own two large dogs with a dog door. they go outside anytime they think they hear something.

Ingenious but what if someone breaks in?
-
nice setup ,thanks
I have a celestron 8 i take on trips..i may build a tower similar to yours for backyard.. now that i saw yours, I will. -
This is brilliant,.. Im relatively poor by astronomy measures but I do have a Meade 12" LX200R on a pier w/ a wedge that is ready to be set up on a concrete foundation,.. of some sort, much like your is only a fork mounted version. I also have an ST-8 Sbig. I got both before I became disabled . Now that my income is seriously limited this may actually be do-able. Would still need to balance it, get dew heaters and hopefully someday be fortunate enough to get a Moonlight 3 1/4 " step-programmable focuser, but I digress. Its nice to dream,..lol. I have thought about selling it but I would never ever be able to replace it again in my life unless something major changes with my ability to work... Thanks

Why do people now leave off the "ally" at the end of words these days? "It now works fantastically" is correct english, but people say "It now works fantastic".

Looking like an outhouse is a good thing, stick a toilet sign or something on front. Anyone comes around to rob you they wont steal the contents of a loo :)

Great Home Set-up By The Way

When I was in the Phillipines and had to be outside I used Mosquito Coils to keep them away...work pretty good and keeps them about 20 ft away for as long as they burn... and this was in an area where you would see them around you as a Small cloud

Technically it is not an observatory since you don't use it to observe but to store your mounting and such. BTW very well done.
