Song: Metallica - Astronomy (Original by Blue Öyster Cult) Album: Garage Inc (1998) A great song performed by Metallica. sadly it have never been played live before. Clock strikes twelve and moondrops burst Out at you from their hiding place Like acid and oil on a madman's face His reason tends to fly away Like lesser birds on the four winds Like silver scrapes in May And now the sand's become a crust Most of you have gone away Come Susie dear, let's take a walk Just out there upon the beach I know you'll soon be married And you'll want to know where winds come from Well it's never said at all On the map that Carrie reads Behind the clock back there you know At the Four Winds Bar Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Four winds at the Four Winds Bar Two doors locked and windows barred One door to let to take you in The other one just mirrors it Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hellish glare and inference The other one's a duplicate The Queenly flux, eternal light Or the light that never warms Yes the light that never, never warms Or the light that never Never warms Never warms Never warms The clock strikes twelve and moondrops burst Out at you from their hiding place Miss Carrie nurse and Susie dear Would find themselves at Four Winds Bar It's the nexus of the crisis And the origin of storms Just the place to hopelessly Encounter time and then came me Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Call me Desdinova Eternal light These gravely digs of mine Will surely prove a sight And don't forget my dog Fixed and consequent Astronomy...a star

Guitar work in the original BOC version is so much better.

I try to tell people just how bad Metallica is and they just don't get it. This cover pretty much proves it. One big shit sandwich.
-
i heard stones and rocks crushing no sensation
-
it feels like machines playing this song no humanity ( not like boc ) boc is better and best
-
I wish they would play this song live
-
I want to prefer BÖC
-
This song specifically by Metallica is epic.

I try to like Metallica. After hearing this, I can't believe that Blue Oyster Cult isn't in the Rock Hall of Fame. This cover is pretty weak, and Buck Dharma would be the best guitar player in the band if he were in Metallica

I saw the BOC version, and is bullshit!!!! >:-O
This version is awesome!!!!!
Metallicaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!! :D lml -
Been a BOC fan since their beginning. This is a great version, but there is something about Buck Dharma's flowing riffs that can't be beat.

As an old BOC fan (and Metallica) I like this version. Very Cool that Metallica covered it, sure they amped it up a bit, its what they do. But as is said below, maybe introduced some folks to Blue Oyster Cult. Both great bands.

I can see why Metallica would want to play this live as it is one of the greatest ever rock songs, but I can't understand the point of a recorded version as they were never going to be able to improve on it.All of the subtlety and beauty that made the original so wonderful have been lost.Having said that,if a few Metallica fans discover Blue Oyster Cult as a result, then I suppose that it has been worthwhile.
