Lost In Space: The Launch of The Jupiter 2 ! Part 1
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
Part 1. A re-imagining of the first automated test flight of the Jupiter 2 from the TV show "Lost in Space." Set in the year 2097 at the Alpha Control Shipyards on Jupiter's moon, Callisto. The ship's systems are tested during a shakedown flight before the spacecraft is sent to Earth to pick up the Robinson Family a week later. The Jupiter 2 is the first in a series of ships designed to take families from Earth to the new colony planet in orbit around Alpha Centauri. Part 1 shows the launch, attainment of escape velocity from Callisto, the deployment of the ship's sensors and engagement of the navigational systems. Part 2 will take a look at the ship's passenger compartment and feature the most famous crew member, Robot B9. All models, animation, original texture mapping & editing by me. Sound FX are modified from the show. Royalty-free music from AudioMicro, since FOX hates any use of their own music, even if it's fair use.... All models created entirely with 3ds MAX. Compiled with AfterEffects & Audacity. EDIT: YOUTUBE CLAIMS THE MUSIC IS "TEXTURE" BY HEXAGRAM. THAT IS NOT TRUE. The tracks are named "Taklamakan" and "Arctic Voices." IT IS ROYALTY-FREE MUSIC from AUDIO-MICRO. Recognition must be given to Art Creber and Robert Kinoshita, the original designers of the Jupiter 2 and the Robot, and many of the props in the show. A sincere thank you for giving us a means by which our imaginations can run free.

OMG! My first fave show as a kid. This is bloody awesome. I love how you've incorporated the sounds from the original series. Felt like I was 5 years old again. Thank you.

Fantastic! Your artwork and animation are amazing. Love the equipment interpretations and ships integration. I'm geeking out like a kid.
Thank you for this. 😆🖖 -
Looking forward to the remake of the series on Netflix ... just praying they don't screw it up, as was done with the atrocious film version, by not understanding the campy charm of the original. Not looking forward to a carbon copy of the original, and understand to be positive in making it a bit more adult and 'techno-mature' ... but PLEASE! nothing snarky and cynical as the film!

Es muy imprecionante ver la similitud de esta nave recreada por pc . pero a la verdad si es muy parecida a las naves tipicas cencillas de los grises. yo le he visto antes.

In my opinion Lost in Space deserves a serious reboot. and this is what the look of the film should be. I would accept a few changes to the Jupiter It could be a bit sleeker and of course there would have to be modifications to make it conform to what we now know would be needed for real space travel. I could even accept a little bit of change to the Robot he could maybe lose a little of his mass and he could be a little shorter but his appearance should be as close to the original as possible. From what I have read Irwin Allen is the main obstacle in making this happen he own's the rights to it and wont consider any LOS projects. What a moron now is the time Star Wars,Star Trek,Marvel,D.C. what's the hold up

One might say I came here by accident . But I feel I was guided here. Absolutely brilliant. Between the visuals and the music, I concur with a previous post that you should have worked on the movie. OK story, disappointing movie.

When will you have part two done?

I keep coming back. Imagining what it would take to make this a reality on Earth of course. Fusion reactors, force field generation for radiation protection, robotics, AI, tachyon sensory ability, anti-gravity launch ability, acceleration dampeners. Ha, all some, what, fifty years off. ah well, dreaming is good. Magnificent job on this. And where did you get the cruise music?
