I would love to see the first season of Lost in Space (1965-66) in remastered color and stay faithful to the original first season opening , plot and opening. I would think that this will help the series TV syndications and DVD sales and followings. As a kid growing up during the mid to late 60s I enjoyed watching Lost in Space every Wednesday night at 7:30 pm on Miami's CBS affiliate Channel 4 during its original air time. Although the second and third seasons were telecast in color I had to watch them on our 12" RCA Victor portable black & white set since we couldn't afford a color set during this time. By the fall of 1968 my family was able to afford to buy a color set but unfortunately Lost in Space was not renewed for the 1968-69 season which would have been the series fourth season. As an adult in my late fifties I am finally able to watch the color episodes along with the black & white episodes that are televised every Saturday on cable channel Me-TV, at midnight on our a 40" Samsung LCD-HDTV.

Wasn't a bad idea for a space show but the writers immediately fell down on how to get the ship out of the solar system since they'd argued for a sensible near speed of light 5 year original mission and now were in a trap of their own making. A number of neat bits in the first year: the derelict supership and the strange first planet's unusual orbit and lifeforms were rather nicely explained if a bit loose, but afterwards the series just got campier and campier. I still find it hard to believe after making June Lockhart's Maureen a microbiologist, we never see her doing any scientific work, especially in studying the rapidly mutating lifeforms on planet one. Oh, well...As a kid it was entertaining and Jon Harris was always a hoot.

CBS actually was the network for Lost in Space.
-
Correct. Irwin had a habit of shooting some scenes in color for the B/W show. You can watch the B/W version on JRVspace
-
Season one had that opening in black and white and season two had it in colour.
-
What opening had the cartoon guys in space suits holding on to a dangling line and floating in outer space? ... that's the one I remember seeing a lot as a kid.
-
Well done with this..very good..
-
Yes, very serious tones, even Don and John fought. The Hungry Sea was awesome effects. Looks great even today. My favorite episode was without a doubt "The Keeper". How could we go wrong with Michael Renny guest starring

It would be great to see season one colorized, but, beyond that, I wouldn't mess with anything within it. That would be blasphemous!
-
no. But it does have some similarities.
-
Did you base this version from Star Trek Voyager? It's similar.
-
Well done; never really missed it since life got a hold of me with fuel bill but I sure would like to escape again I suppose!

Great job! I remember going over to my aunt and uncle's house to watch this show every week. I can't remember if it was wednesday or friday night. They also had a black and white TV but they got great reception. I wish it had been in color it would have been even better in my opinion. Again, great job! This brings back a lot of good memories for my.

Of all of the music themes for this show, this was my favorite one! Great job!
-
Well done. I was never a fan of the first opening theme-- as I always preferred the countdown and fast pace of the second one. However, that being said, you make the first title song work exceedingly well. The wobble of the J2 is clever and of course, fits with the show. Also, the simple but artsy background of space with strategically-placed, key elements that are moving adds to the visual enjoyment. It is a really good job.

This is dull as dishwater. Where are the animated characters floating about? The spacesuits tied the actor's names to characters in the show!! Besides....in the Universe of Lost in Space, there are nothing but cosmic storms and meteor showers EVERYWHERE, not smooth sailing and pretty nebulae....
-
i like it and i do hope they change it to this for the tv shows
-
Just listening to that opening and knowing the female cast of this classic was coming up was enough to lock me in for the next 30 minutes.

@ez2me2009 I was quite upset myself too. The DVD image quality is quite poor, what a pitty.
