This is truly AWFUL. What an insult to the original cast and crew...and to all the fans as well.... UGH!!!!! Hanna Barbera really went downhill from this point on. It's like they didn't know or care what they were doing anymore.
-
In the same 1973 year besides Johnathan Harris voicing Dr. Smith in the 1973 Lost in Space animated movie, Mr. Harris was voicing Uncle Martain in the 1973 Filmation My Favorite Martians animated cartoon series.

At least they were using a concept that was in place before it was common. That being the space shuttle. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Shuttle#Early_history
-
Oh just let him have a diamond already!
-
This COULD have been an effort nearly as remembered as the live show, with being more true to the show, and all of the cast doing voices.Wonder if they even bothered to ask the rest of the cast. They even messed with the J 2.

The animation was done at the Hanna Barbera Sydney studio while the stories, music, voiceover and sound editorial was done at the Hanna Barbera Hollywood studios
-

-
This was so much fun!! Jonathan Harris was in Smith overdrive.
-
its sad they could get JH to voice this but could dole out the cash to pay for the robots voice lol
-
Salut ! génial ! merci pour ce dessin animé, malheuresement jamais proposé en France .....
-
Craig Robinson was the name of the Father in the Gold Key comic
-
Fantastic Four theme (Hanna Barbera's)was used in Super Friends as well
-
yes the music is taken from superfriends 1973, thank you for your comment
-
Music sounds straight out of the Superfriends series! Hoyt Curtin musical director, got paid twice for the same score? lol.
-
Great fun. Doctor Smith is still happily reading his Botany book days after getting lost in space ...lol

Although not one of their better efforts,Hanna-Barbera's "SATURDAY SUPERSTAR MOVIE" special,"LOST IN SPACE" was all part of Fall 1973's TV line-up,when all three of the TV networks' Saturday morning cartoon shows were based on popular Primetime TV series, begining with "STAR TREK","JEANNIE","EMERGENCY+4","THE ADDAMS FAMILY",and "MY FAVORITE MARTIANS",which also featured the voice of Jonathan Harris,in this Filmation produced cartoon for CBS that Fall! the animated "LOST IN SPACE" movie was actually made at Hanna-Barbera's Australia studio,Eric Porter Studios, where the first season of ABC's "SUPER FRIENDS" was produced at! the other voices in this cartoon version were Michael Bell, who later voiced "DEVLIN" in Fall 1974,and later voiced "The Riddler" in "CHALLENGE OF THE SUPER FRIENDS" in 1978. former Mouseketeeer Sherri Alberoni, better known as the voice of "Alexandra Cabot" on CBS/Hanna-Barbera's "JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS" series in 1970,and also voiced "Wendy" on "SUPER FRIENDS" in Fall 1973. a pity that the animation designs weren't as good as they should've been-but had Filmation Associates did a "LOST IN SPACE" cartoon, chances are it would've been a little more better then this version! Alex Toth was the main character designer for this Hanna-Barbera special, given his history at this studio, were he designed "SPACE GHOST" in 1966,and eventually other animated TV series, like Ken Synder's "SKYHAWKS" and "HOT WHEELS" in Fall 1969,among his other impressive credentials, and "SPACE ANGEL" in 1961,which was also a major achievement in those days!

Mine was 'Yesteryear'!

I did grow up with Filmation and HB! Star Trek TAS was also one of my favorites!
