Space Harrier Longplay recorded with : Dazzle DVC100 & Sega Saturn NTSC-J description and video walkthrough below : In english : After many tries, I finally recorded this longplay. Space Harrier on Sega Saturn is the second volume of Sega Ages series on the SEGA's 32 bits (there are 5 volumes). It's the Arcade version, originaly released on December 1985. We can play the same version on 32X, on Dreamcast (in shenmue I & II) and PlayStation 2 (in Space Harrier Complete Collection). There are many other versions, inspired by the arcade version, on many other systems : master system, game gear, PS2, Spectrum, Amiga, PC Engine, Atari ST, etc This rail shooter was produced by the very popular Yu Suzuki (Hang On, Out Run, Virtua Fighter, Shenmue). The arcade version of Space Harrier used digitized voices. When starting the first level, the player would be greeted with "Welcome to the fantasy zone!; Get ready!". After defeating a boss : "You're doing great!" The arcade version has a total of 18 levels, each containing a boss at the end (excepted 5th and 12th levels). The 18th level is a boss rush. Get ready". Après avoir tué un boss : "You're doing great!". Le 18e niveau est composé des boss des précédents niveaux. am i crazy? or is it true that the version on the arcade machines are slightly different?
like on the arcade machines the sound and graphics quality is a bit better? -
Back in my college days there was a time, or two, when I woke up in the morning, said screw it, got baked as hell and spent the whole morning at the arcade playing this game.
-
Why do I get the impression that the main hero is simply on drugs?!
-
is better this or the Sega 32x version? Both Saturn and Sega super 32x have 32bits ,right? I dont get which one is more powerful and better.
-
I love how the score is still going during the credits^^
-
arent the 2 fire dragons haya oh on this?
-
seems to run faster than even the system 16 arcade version.
-
For some reason, this game looks more impressive than Space Harrier II. And it's definitely faster.
The end was meh though. No final boss after the boss run. -
Very cool. Thanks for the upload. I just got the 32X version and its pretty close. But I think the Saturn is just slightly superior. I have to track down a copy of this.
-
Your english is quite sufficient, so no worries. Thanks for the info.

I think the saturn version is very similar to the arcade version. But the 32X version has black lines top and bottom of the screen that cut the feet of the hero. (sorry, my english is not very good^^)

What I wish I could find is a side-by-side comparison of the arcade original, the 32x version, and this version. I own the actual SMS and GG versions, and have seen the NES, C64, and Speccy editions (can't remember if I tried an MS-DOS release or not), but these are all obviously inferior to the 3 I care about.
