View full lesson: http://ed.ted.com/lessons/how-do-we-measure-distances-in-space-yuan-sen-ting When we look at the sky, we have a flat, two-dimensional view. So how do astronomers figure the distances of stars and galaxies from Earth? Yuan-Sen Ting shows us how trigonometric parallaxes, standard candles and more help us determine the distance of objects several billion light years away from Earth. whitewash ! No people are gods . The hardest words these "scientists " always have with is - "We dont know". Had my doubts about these peoples abilitiesto measure these things years and years ago but they still keep telling us they know. Look at Quasars- said to be billions of light years away but then soon later demoted to just outside our galaxy. And their very far from sure about that. These are not facts, per se, just somepeoples guesses and wallpapering mixed with unhealthy doses of ego and ambitions. USE YOUR FIRST SENSES SOMETIMES, what does that say !!!!

light travels about 6,000,000,000,000 miles a year
-
but how they measured the distance between earth's two positions which u said they are
like the distance between eyes ? -
-
Andromeda isnt the closest galaxy to us

WRONG!
The Andromeda galaxy is NOT the nearest galaxy to the Milky Way. The Elliptical Sagittarius Dwarf is. -

so that's mean if i had a ship way faster then the lighti,
i could possibly go 80 light years away and look to the earth 80 years ago by some super telescope?!!?
I'm half away to make a time machine guys -
Could light interfere with light?
