Saving Cliffy seems to be our primary job in this game... Fortunately our job is made easier by the fact that space appears to be 2-dimensional. :-)

This Let's Play reminds me of my job as Supreme Commander of Janitorial Sciences. It is interesting to note that Roger's scientific method could use a good polish.

almost 4 years late question... I was wondering how you did WD40's voice? Did you add effects or just spoken into a fan on high?
-
Actually, the Pentium was a re name to the 586 CPU, so some people back then actually had 586 CPUs (then they rename to Pentium, MMX200, etc).

With the Windows 98 compilation, modern computers will make several puzzles in Space Quest IV nigh impossible, such as getting aboard the shuttle or the skate-O-rama thing.
-
The thing is powered by Mazda?
-
>Flo: Throw the little tart out the airlock. Roger: Are you by any chance related to Javik?
-
I think those were Cyrix or AMD processors. Although Intel referred to the Pentium as 80586 internally during development, it was never released under that name afaik.
-
Little nit-picky (and this video is old enough I don't know if you still read comments on it) but 486 was NOT the last processor named that way, I know growing up my family had a 586 computer, after that we moved to a Pentium.

The wankle rotary engine is a reference to monty python, where they insist it is a word with an inherently embarrassing connotation, you can find it if you search for the 'Are you embarrassed easily?' audio scit :D

While planetary rings are made of very fine material you still run into the other problems with low gravity environment navigation, namely that your and their speed and inertia are much bigger issues than you normally face in a 0.98G environment. Flying into a planetary ring would generally be like taking a shotgun blast to the face, only with much more pellets and a generally higher velocity.

I know i should have asked it sooner, but who was behind the ambassador's name in the first place?
-

-
Remember the times when your PC had a 'turbo button' to go from 33 to 66 MHz?
-
I find it rather amusing that he's been out in space, yet still has the cigar in his mouth.

The actual controls for the pod are a lot simpler than they sound. My eyes glazed over when that manual was read, it was too much for me. :P
-
That Pod scene was a bit of a pain for me with DOSBox as well ... By the way, there's a kind of an easter egg when you touch the leftmost compartment down there in the airlock room that reminds you of Astro Chicken :P
