KSP/RO - SpaceX ITS Basics and First Thoughts
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
I discuss aspects of building SpaceX's Interplanetary Transport System in Realism Overhaul and some thoughts about the challenges the real project will face. Modlist (may contain spoilers!): https://www.dropbox.com/s/1rjka9kqq8nr9to/EtFmods.txt?dl=0 Thanks to SQUAD for making this marvelous game, which you can get at http://buy.kerbalspaceprogram.com/aff_c?offer_id=2&aff_id=1118. Also thanks to all the other KSP players on YouTube and Twitch who gave me the inspiration to do these videos in the first place. If you enjoyed the video, please click the 'like' button so that I know what you'd like to see more of. I plan to continue uploading videos regularly in this save, so if you want to follow along, consider subscribing. Comments are welcome! Wow, really solid work! Looking forward with what you do with this.

There were some more details provided in Musk's AMA. You might want to check that out if you haven't already.

Use FRMS it says it's only compatable with 1.0.5 but it is compatable with 1.1.3 as far as I can tell from use multiple times as I am doing the same thing but not being so true to form. But just trying to get 100 kerbals onto mars with a similar design using RO.

OMG, will this be availible as a mod at some point?

this is gonna need a BIG transporter.

how much fuel could be saved if it was launched from the ecuator?

I have a question, when I reach a certain altitude, the terrain/clouds disappear then reappear a little differently, why is this? and how to stop that from happening? also the ocean flickers a little bit when I am flying the rocket, your video here looks like there is no flickering.
Would opening scatterer settings (Alt F11) and scaling the earth down a bit more work? also please tell me in the scatterer settings where I am supposed to go an what value to put. -
Subbed :D

If memory serves, while the Raptor vacuum engines may not gimbal, Elon said that differential thrust levels could provide a measure of control. So, in the real version, the sea level Raptor engines wouldn't be needed for control on launch or transfer burns, just for landings. I'm not sure how this could be extended to KSP though...

Earth ends with a TH sound not a PH sound so it is not pronounced Earf.

Please upload another part

I'm very impressed with this. Are the sounds custom?

The booster actually doesn't have any landing legs at all. Landing pegs more like. Quite brilliant actually they're tapered inward to allow for error. If the rocket is a few feet off ( maye even a meter or so ) it slides down into a conic cradle. Its going to take ALOT to ensure that accuracy. Maybe a temporary landing site could be made until they have the confidence to land back at the pad.

Jupiter has an incredibly large magnetic field

What mod lets you build out of the VAB?

Any chance you're willing to share this amazing .craft file?

Can support 150 people!!! Wow, the first true space bus. Make sense since it will take a lot of hands to build the first colony.

She's a beauty

Dude! You could be on the SpaceX engineering team! So knowledgeable.
Subbed! Cant wait to see how you develop the spaceship. -
