If you look carefully at Lou's face, you will see a fresh scar on his left chin. This is how I first met Lou in 1979. He had been mugged in Kenmore after a night at the Rat, and sustained a facial laceration. He came to the emergency department, where I sewed him up. I could tell from his attire that he was into Punk/New Wave, so as I worked we talked about music. We had similar tastes, and we connected. Two days later, he was mugged again, and the cut busted open. He came back to see me, and I fixed him up again. He put me on the guest list for the next show at Cantones. That was the beginning of a long and close friendship. I miss Lou. Thanks so much for posting this memory.

The song is "Surf Nazis on the Beach" written by the bass player Kip Korea (aka Kip Martin) - on drums Bob Mackenzie, guitar Jack Rootoo - this was the original band as I knew them from their monday night residence at Cantones
