Knocking on Heaven's Door: Space Race (Russian Cosmism Documentary - BBC 2011)
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
April 12th 2011 was the fiftieth anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's flight into space, hailed by the Soviet Union as a triumph for socialist science over capitalism. But the true story is much stranger. George Carey's film shows how the Russian space programme was kick-started by a mystic who taught that science would make us immortal, and carried forward by a scientist who believed that we should evolve into super-humans who could leave our overcrowded planet to colonise the universe. Stranger still, Carey shows how those ideas have survived communism and adapted themselves to the science of the modern world.

Loved this documentary... ties up a lot of things. Can anyone reveal what the first song is? I dig it a lot... wish I could hear all of it. Many thanks for posting this for all of us.

The gospel is 1000 times more logical than this pagan gibberish.

If Gagarin saw this, he would go mad :(

anyone know the song at 00:45?

As stated by Korilov's daughter, "There was a knock at the door, they showed him their search and arrest warrants. They turned the whole apartment upside down. Of course, they found nothing. But they sealed my father's study and took him away." See what happens in those despicable communist societies? Man, nothing like this ever happens in America and we should be so happy and proud that we enjoy a unique quaranteed freedom unknown throughout the rest of the world! Now, if you will excuse me, I have a couple of bridges to sell...

'Cosmism'?? lol

There will be a universal resurrection, but it won't be a physical resurrection per se. Instead, we'll be resurrected as simulations inside the quantum computers of the not too distant future.

Not only ridiculous but dangerous.........

That's just what these Alien agenda mind controlled bastards want you to think. What is this "source " in which they speak that one can tap into. The Noosphere concept is a much closer to the truth perhaps of a "Godhead" so to speak, but it will not be of man's technological doings that we get there. Only by love, the grace of (super)nature, and universal intent will we get to the next stage.... if the universal mind sees fit that is. That nutters barren garden at the beginning might have been more synchronistic than the narrator could have imagined. Oh and all those frozen wannabe Godheads in the pole barns....good luck with that shit mate. LOL

I too believe Fyodorov would have had a more spiritual and ethical solution in mind. I can't think of anything more foolish and submissive then uploading our minds into a machine that in all likelihood probably bears the company logo of tech giants like google or Darpa. Fyodorov's vision is social and egalitarian, (at least on paper) but the trans-humanist dream is Darwinist eugenics. Ray Kurzweil and his 'followers' are corrupting Fyodorov's dream just as the Bolsheviks perverted Communism. These trans-humanists actually believe humanity is going to be able to live in their paradise?! Over a third of the world population don't even have access to clean water!!!

I wish Putin would announce that the Russians will go to the moon and build a Base on the moon. That would be the best thing ever.

Thanks for this fantastic documentary on the Soviet space program and on the philosophy of Cosmism. This is a piece of information that not too many people know about: that the philosophy of cosmism, by mixing science with mysticism, set the foundations for the Soviet space program.

Ridiculous.
-
I agree, beautiful. Some of their stuff is not... um.. based on observations, and testable, or falsifiable and repeatable. However it was in the early days, that it was published. Their dream still is beautiful; and they can certainly back it up with their science!!!

The first part was just people talking crazy.
