if the sun is the center of the kerbal universe I would expect you to eventually fall back into the sun. maybe after millions of years but still, gravity would eventually take it's toll. I'm assuming game mechanics more or less model basic Newtonian mechanics?

By the way: You are very far away from Lightspeed. Lightspeed is 300'000 Kilo meters per Second. That would be 300'000'000 (300 Million) meters per Second :)
You have 15'000 m/s, that is only 0,005% (percent) of Lightspeed ;)

It has taken Voyager 1 some 40 years and I think around 11 billion miles to get out of our solar system, I was watching the NASA review and they said it travels at 40,000 miles an hour.
