Kerbal Space Program - E108 - ROYAL Pain in the Asteroid
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
The Kerbal Space Program v0.23.5 "ARM" update includes new mystery objects hurtling towards Kerbin! In today's episode we begin our first foray into the Asteroid Redirect Missions, using new largr NASA inspired parts. You might be able to guess what happens, as is what happens every time I try building new rockets with parts that I am unfamiliar with. Thanks for watching! There was nothing wrong with your first rocket, Kurt. Nothing that a couple of Sepratrons wouldn't have fixed.

only YOU can create the best asteroid puller (and the best atmospheric flying rocket(flying backwardsftw))

Hi from 2015

Haha hahahhahahha

Supabunny is girl Broly. From DRAGON BALL Z

The new parts provide more thrust at slightly higher efficiency with fewer parts, and fewer parts means less stress on the CPU to simulate them. That said, they're really for Massive lifts, like large refuelers or space stations, to replace overcomplicated lifters with a bunch of parts. Medium and small craft, like that tugboat, are better on smaller lifters anyway.

Gavin Free brought me here.

As far as I'm aware, you cannot tow an asteroid. The towing thrusters fire against the asteroid they are trying to tow, and resultant forces cancel each other out. You wont move.

N.K.O.T.B.s - Near Kerbin Orbit Trajectories o.o how about that

Here you go, Kurt: N.K.O.T.B.s - Near Kerbin Object Tracking Bases

The cluster is better man, check the stats.

The name of the restores xD "Work you bastard", "Career please work" sat laughing at them longer than I should have

Kurt, a solution for the "VAB click bug", and it's worth the time to read it (it IS a very annoying bug): use right click! It works on the menu buttons just like left click, but you can't grab parts with it. Enjoy!
Also, comments on design as usual: unless you have about an orange tank of clearance, the exhaust of those engines is going to hit the 'roid and do nothing. Also, take a look at statistics and do a bit of testing before building rockets: the LRB can push twoorange tanks on top of them and still have excess thrust, and the huge upper stage engine has almost as much (but not quite) thrust as the new cluster: give them a big ass tank to work with. -
Kurt, you should be able to remember how far out the mum is; it's the same distance as the far lands!
-
People claim i'm a hater for saying so but once again Kurt proves me right. His launchers S.U.C.K.
-
Kurt, did you actually look at the specs of the parts? Yes, that 'big' engine worked so well on the first launch because it was a big engine pushing a small craft. Then you replace the BIG engines (the quads) with a less powered one and now that engine isn't pushing a small craft anymore but your entire craft. That's why the second launch failed. Use the quads on the first stage, and try launching at half or 2/3 thrust.
-
kurt you don't have to put engine is the other direction, you will jsut have to rotate the asteroide ( work well with little one
-
Your initial impulse to use the quad engine was correct, has much higher thrust than the new single large engine. Also loved the self burn, and you should just super-size your current heavy lifting stage using the new parts.
