According to the Dutch design team behind it, the nifty new air lounge was inspired by the dry bag concept and doesn’t require a pump for inflation, just “two scoops of air” – watch the video below to see how it works. Easy to carry, it folds up into a small carry bag and weighs just 1.3kg. It’s made from ultra-light and durable parachute fabric, which means it can be stand up to rougher terrains like those with shells, small rocks or even hard pavement. Being waterproof it can also float on water. The Kaisr Original has a maximum weight capacity of 250kg, and is said to last up to eight hours on a single inflation. To deflate you simply unclip the opening and release the 700-odd litres of air. There’s a small loop on the side to help secure it to the ground and stop it from blowing away. It also has a stretch pocket on the side for cans and drink, a double pocket for books and phones, and a bottle opener. “Dragging along those heavy beach chairs, spending the whole afternoon inflating air mattresses or lugging around a bulky bean bag are passé now with the Kaisr Original,” explained company founder Maarten. “It also beats sitting or lying on a thin towel on the hard ground. Our goal was simple – to completely change the way people unwind. We tested our product for a whole year, travelled the world and used it under the hardest conditions,” he said. The Kaisr Original is being marketed via crowd-funding website Indiegogo, with the price currently set at $84. It comes in a range of colours, with worldwide deliveries expected to begin in May
