I found an old heavily used forklift battery on craigslist that I picked up to experiment with. This is not the new battery I will be using for the tiny house on wheels. This is a junk forklift battery I got for experimenting with. I plan to attempt to restore this old forklift battery and put it into service on the off grid solar homestead. Picking up the forklift battery took half the day so I did not get a lot of video this day. This is a 36 volt 2000 pound battery pack rated at about 680 Amp Hours. This means that it has 18 two volt cells at 680 AH each. Each cell weighs about 100 pounds. My hope is to disassemble this old battery pack and remove the individual cells. I hope to take the best of all the cells and form 12 volt battery banks at 680 AH each. This will all be done in a separate video series. I have had trouble with my water supply freezing during the colder nights so I finally cut off the garden hose with the redneck electrical tape fix. I had used electrical tape to tape on a garden hose to the valve of the 275 gallon tote which holds my off grid rain water supply. This worked all summer without a single drop of water lost. I am quite pleased with the results. But now I need a water supply for my off grid homestead and I had to cut off the tape and remove the garden hose so I have access to the rain water. Some packages arrived in the mail. One of the packages contained some items I plan to give away to my viewers in the new year. I will have a survival gear give away soon after the holidays so I am gathering some nice survival gear to give away.
