Here's the thing: Life on Earth has an expiration date. No matter what humans do, our aging sun will eventually be so hot that we can't survive. If we want to live on, it will have to be beyond Earth. The only question is, will it be US who live on, or just our radio broadcasts and dead satellites? Will we be able to escape Earth, and our solar system, and our galaxy, and our universe, and live infinetly? I guess we'll eventually find out.

The sun is going to become a red giant, right? So when that happens, would other planets in our solar system get the elements that make Earth habitable? Water, atmosphere, and the right distance from the sun?

waste heat resulting in massive IR emissions would also be a strong indicator of advanced civilizations... as for messaging way more advanced races and civilizations; lets not - they either wont care or be very offended by how terrible we are for ourselves and our environment.

When Mr. Hanson explains what we would see on the screens if we were to found a possibly habitable planet (1:13), it's just like reading "Pale blue dot" by Carl Sagan. There is a similar paragraph in the book (Chapter 5. Is There Intelligent Life on Earth?). Such a nice reminder! When I first read the chapter, I couldn't stop smiling. The same here. Bravo :)

Suns are stars right? then all the stars out there is a sun which life could live next to just like us. if u disagree and think the sun is the biggest star ever well scientists says that they never ever flew by a star before since it's so far away so aliens could live next to that star u see at night
