Could humans really be alone in this expansive universe? And if we're not, how come we've never made contact with other intelligent life? Everyone's thought about it; especially members of the scientific community. Join Gabe as he presents some of the most popular theories that scientists use to rationalize their support or skepticism of the existence of aliens. We may never know the answer to this age old question, but a little scientific thinking never hurt anybody! Is it possible that there is a 4th possibility? We could be the first intelligent life in our galaxy although it would seem unlikely based on the age of Earth and how long it took us to get here...what if it just takes special circumstances at the right time and although intelligent life is inevitable, we just hit those circumstances and time first...I believe there is definitely intelligent life out there and I believe we have already seen evidence for their existence in space but the problem is that we don't recognise it...portals, natural looking objects, etc...I'm not a genius scientist or anything but it seems to me that its possible that we are actually ahead of everyone else...which is a scary thought lol

Aliens probably exist but...we probably will never know it. And by WE I mean: US that are alive right now. We currently are stuck with incredible short lives. That doesn't change my faith in things I can't see such as God, aliens or a humanity that will love others more than they love themselves.

The way he swings his arms around is incredibly annoying
-
answer...since we have never found 1....we cant tell at all what the probability is. no..just no. all you can tell is the possible number of similar conditions. zero info past that....100% conjecture.

I was abducted by Gabe.

It would be a nice consolation prize that there are no aliens and Earth is super special 😊
-
I haven't even seen intelligent Humans, never mind alien life.
-
We are looking in Alderaan places for signs of alien life. :-)
-
i think u shuld keep ur hands down at least once. it fuckin bothers my ocd

How do we know Alien doesn't exist if we can only observe the the past ? I mean as we are looking to a really distant planet, we are looking into its past right ? It didn't have life at that moment, but it could support life now. There's no way to find out about the current status of the distant planet.
Correct me if I am wrong, I am completely new to astronomy. =) -
It is rational. The universe is huge, most likely infinite. So it can't be that we are the only life that evolved in the whole universe. Google "Truthcontest " to learn the truth of life.

Assuming we are average (Sagan camp). I think the question is time. How much time does it take on average for life to form and then intelligent life to form and what is the standard deviation (SD) for this to occur? The earth is 4.6 billion years old, life began 3.8 billion years ago and Homo erectus were here 2-2.5million years ago and homo sapiens around 200,000 years ago. Assuming the universe is 14 billion years, the time it took on earth was 13,999,800,000 years for this to happen but the SD is not known. If this is the "average time" for intelligence to form (of course we have no idea because again we have a "n" of 1), then maybe the Fermi Paradox is missing this idea. Given radio was invented by Marconi 121 years ago and our galaxy is 100,000 light years in diameter, the critical question is what is the standard deviation for intelligent life to form. Maybe there are 1000s life forms in our galaxy at this moment but either they are only 50,000 years ahead of us or behind us in development and there has simply not been enough time to detect their radio waves!!!
-
Another theory: we are actually the first intelligent life to evolve in our galaxy. There's an unfathomable amount of time left for life to evolve out there and the Earth came about in the first 8% of known time. That's pretty early.

0=star+earth i mean from 1 galaxey 1 life have religion and from 1 star 1 life but not geagnes...etc ok
-
Or maybe chances of life are low, chances of advanced life, and chances of advanced life surviving long enough to reach it's potential even lower and maybe when you're advanced enough you realize it's pointless going far out into space and instead you go the smart route and chose to develop perfect virtual simulations where you live indefinitely as gods.
-
Haven't you heard? There are aliens living on Earth in huts made of shait...
-
maybe there is a lot of proof. except that we're too ungullible to see it
-
Perhaps it's how Douglas Adams describes it in "So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish" that we are "Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the galaxy"
-
I am completely on the third argument. If you look at our history for example: yes, we've been around for Y amount of time, however, X amount of time has already existed. And X is a much, much, much larger number. Less than a cosmic blink of an eye. Even if intelligent life has spread out, the chances of their tools remaining have probably been destroyed by natural events. Whether that being natural planetary events such as an earthquake or global sized event, or outer cosmic event such as asteroids or a nearby supernova.

it could be other species are way advanced and don't want to share all the info they know or could be they left this galaxy or are in some other universe ╮(╯▽╰)╭ idk don't really care all I know is I want to go to the event horizon (*´>д<)
