On Sept 28th, 2016, Urban Armor Gear (UAG) became the first company to send an iPhone 7 to the fringes of space, complete with a 360-degree camera system to document the trip in 360 video. Protected by Urban Armor Gear's own Monarch case, the iPhone 7 was launched from Sheffield, England and travelled up to 120,027 feet providing dramatic 360-degree views of earth from space By filming the launch using 360-degree cameras, Urban Armor Gear allows viewers to experience what it's like to rise to the stratosphere on a weather balloon while providing vital statistics in a dashboard of detailed flight data. As the phone ascends higher, the weather balloon providing the lift grows in size. At maximum altitude, the balloon bursts, and the phone free-falls until a parachute is deployed to control the descent. After a successful landing and recovery of the flight rig, the iPhone 7 and UAG’s Monarch case remained in perfect condition, proving that not only is the iPhone 7 waterproof but space-proof as well.
