iMac 5k Color Accuracy

From the time that Apple announced the iMac with 5k Retina Display, I wondered how color accurate the display measured. As a photographer and videographer, I didn’t wan to put all my money into an all-in-one computer that had a beautiful, but color chaos screen. So here we use an XRITE i1Display Pro colorimeter to get a read on how well the color would work for basic photo retouching, video editing, color correction and grading for an enthusiast producing for the web. (This is obviously not a reference display for color critical work. Look to brands like Flanders Scientific and Sony for displays in that range). I've been color calibrating with the Spyder 4 Pro on my iMac 5K retina, and I just can't escape the shocking over saturated reds on the display... help?!?!

What are your thought on calibrating the iMac for video. Since Premiere isn't color managed profiles don't really come into play? They just work in Photoshop? Just realized this. Many apps like QT seems to use color management though, and thats why renders often look different to what we see in premiere?

How about 21.5-inch 4K iMac & 27-inch 5K iMac 2015 that supports 30-bits RGB for 1.07 billions colors accuracy?

Photographers should always get a monitor color calibrator and use it to best preview what the color will look like when printed.

Thank you Curtis for posting your results. I must add that back when the Retina iMac was released Apple put great importance on the quality of spectrophotometer they used to factory calibrate the display. One must wonder how accurate a $230 colorimeter really is, and if indeed accurate why all display companies wouldn't pay more attention to calibration out of the box. With this said, I calibrate all the LaCie monitors at the studio I work at but kept my 5K iMac with the stock 'iMac' .icc profile. If you happen to have the Dell 5K display I'd enjoy to see the results as well.
