I love my homemade guitar "the polski 2000" and I love the dimarzio airzone pickup. it is straight thru a marshall jcm 2000 with just reverb. i know i can get the tone even better just with the settings and the pick attack. this guitar is like my best friend. i favor it over any others i have or have had. sometimes i can get it to sound like a trumpet, or a violin. please check out my new album on cdbaby and itunes: "F-Hole in Outer Space" by Adam Maslowski. it is a mix of smooth jazz, fusion jazz, and instrumental rock. all originals. all themed and with a definate mood. all structured, and with improvised solos. all different. 4 guitar tracks on each, 1 bass track and programmed digital sampled drums. all composed, arranged, performed, recorded, mixed, and mastered by me. i played orchestrated guitar parts to enhance the melodies and tensions and to make for a more interesting sounding song sections. please buy it if you like it. only 10 bucks. thank you. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/adammaslowski

Sweet

@buzzird thanks. you do have a very nice tone. and you can do those sweet in tune bends. that is a great interpretation of a gary moore song. a lot of tone is in your fingers and picking.
-
@GAMVM that is mostly a C dorian modal scale with a few passing notes thrown in for some bluesy color.
-
What scale do you use?
-
Dear Roccckkerrr, it'll work fine with a coil split, both my pickups on my Tokai can do that more than nicely, so rest assured! Have fun!
-
thank you bulent. that is a great compliment. i really like jazz horn players and piano. that is more of the lines i try to emulate.
-
your phrasing is so musical!
-
thanks peter. i like your strat sound. it is very mark knopfler-ish. and i really like your ii-v-I jam. i did a similar one. i sent you the video response.

Nice, has that Abraxas sound.

@TKDWolf dude i have a junior and i painted the pickguard, back plate, and pickup ring red and ive got a red strap for it so i kinda did the same as you except opposite......if that makes sense
-
hey, i am considering these pups to go in my strat and be coil split, how do they sound just normally?
-
@scorpionsG13 It is not exactly hand made. I bought all the parts separately from Ebay. They are all from different models of guitars. I did have to chisel out the neck pocket angle in the body because I wanted a hard-tail. And the neck pocket was at a 3 degree angle for a tremelo bridge. And I had to shim it. A lot of trial and error. The pickup is new and the bridge is new. And the volume pot is new. I wanted a simple beater guitar with good playing action and good sound.

Nice....This guitar is handmade??

Your guitar reminds me of mine, but I only modified mine not built. It's a cheap LP junior type guitar with just one humbucker (Air Zone) and a volume pot. I painted mine blue, it plays great and sounds good too. :)

@amas97 Ok-Thank You!I'm getting older ;) and gradually slow down with heavy rock, turn to blues and mellow sound..Your marshall is pretty good!

Thanks. I really like less gain. I am trying to get more of a horn sound. Kind of trumpet or trombone-like. But this pickup has a medium output, and is capable of playing pretty hot also. Just crank up the gain. But I like the singing, more violin-like and brass-like quality. If you go to the DiMarzio web site. They have more samples of this pickup and others played by the pros. I am using a Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 401 with only the reverb built in. No effects. Good luck.

Great sound! I'm looking for a pickup for my music man silhouette special which is quite bright sounding guitar so maybe it's good choice..?
