Goals for America’s space program have yet to be outlined by President-elect Donald Trump. NASA has been very open about its ambitions to send people to Mars by 2030, but Charles Miller, a former NASA advisor whom Trump has appointed to his transition team, led a study in 2015 that claimed colonizing the moon in order to mine hydrogen would provide cheap rocket fuel, and therefore private-sector space travel could be a real possibility.
