S-wave shadow and P-wave detection patterns give us information about the core. Created by Sal Khan. But the Sun is tiny compared to the solar system which is tiny compared to the distance to the next star. Oh, did we mention that there are over 100 billion stars in our galaxy (which is about 100,000 light years in diameter) which is one of hundreds of billions of galaxies in just the observable universe (which might be infinite for all we know). Don't feel small. We find it liberating. Your everyday human stresses are nothing compared to this enormity that we are a part of. Enjoy the fact that we get to be part of this vastness! About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content. For free. For everyone. Forever. #YouCanLearnAnything Subscribe to Khan Academy’s Cosmology & Astronomy channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChNPnEkW8LYZ5Rwi8_A2-DA?sub_confirmation=1 Subscribe to Khan Academy: https://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=khanacademy

Given all the explanations, in the end it still seemed bordering on theory. Anything else from a true observable standpoint? No therefores, must bes? How much further knowledge do we have on P and S-wave behaviors? Have we a concise understanding? For instance, just recently it's been discovered water has a new behavior. How can we be so sure of other elements, etc?

Wow... a machine that can sense even the slightest motion from the other side of the world....YET we cannot detect ANY movement as we are spinning at 1,000 mph flying around the sun at 67,000 mph which is hurling through the milky way galaxy at 500,000 mph which is flying through infinite space 670,000,000 mph...
Amazing...almost unbelievable. Actually it is unbelievable and even foolishness. -
Why is the p-wave not curved as the s-wave toward the outer surface. Can we just draw any line and try to make sense of it.
-
S for sine, that's how I remember which one is transverse.

i wrote this on the same subject: http://retosterricolas.blogspot.com/2015/09/how-do-we-know-earth-has-core.html

awesome video. sure answered my question!

Thanks! :-) very interesting!

u can learn a lot from this video.

Thank you . Just what i was looking for. Though how did science assume there was a outer and inner core before the advent of seismology?
-
Came here for a breath of fresh air after debating with flat earthers.

LOVE YA!
-
You write so neat with a mouse!
-
What else explanation could be there?
-
Is it weird that this diagram reminds me of sweet delicious chocolate truffles?
-
@syam ahari nobody said it was definite. its just a therory.
-
@Zanirtak no, maybe you were just courious. i watched it for a science project i have to tirn in by monday j
-
im not satisfied with this evidence, it isn't completely definite enough we could be wrong.
