How To Install A DiMarzio Tone Zone Pickup. No copyright infringement intended. This is a brief overview of how to install a DiMarzio Tone Zone into the bridge position of an Ibanez RG 470AH. I'm not an expert by any means, but I hope that this video can help someone who is going to replace a pickup in the future. can I skip step 1?

Nice vid. Just as a note, not all Ibanez pickups are wired the same. I fitted Tonezone and PAF Pro in my RG370 and the red dimarzio cable had to be connected to the old white Ibanez cable. Took me a while to figure this out!!

I did this just today. Helped immensely and saved me buying a whole new harness.

Great video. But the Tone Zone sucks. Crunch Lab all the way

Deffo the easiest way to install pick ups I've seen. Good Video. Gonna try it on my 7420 in January. Either a SD Nasgul or a DiMarzio X2n7 install. A combination of electrical tape and wax is good for removing any bad frequencies from bare wires. I agree it's a pity on the used previous pick up, but if it was good enough you wouldn't be changing it. :p

I have a RG550, I just replaced the bridge for the tone zone, then the second position with cleans mixing bridge and middle sounds very low.? I soldered red,on the right point, green and bare on bare and the black and white no connected,
I tried connecting black & white on white like original but it sounded very low, I need help! -
Sad face emotocon when people cut the pickup wires
-
kind of smart just splicing the wires. though it makes it difficult to used the pick up that was cut again.

Good video. i just have to learn how to sold ..hehe..can i make you a question? i´m about to buy an RG and i´m afraid of the middle pickup ´cause i hit the pick on it. So can the middle pickup go vey low such as the level of the wood? and if i use only the cap empty? thank you!

Couldn't have done it without you (mine are Evolutions (All 3 - HSH)) but the wiring is identical. except for the single, which has only 2 wires and extremely easy to figure out... thank you :-)
-
I like a lot the idea of not soldering, but joint only the wires :)
I'm gonna try it wih my new Seymor! -
It only takes a second to loosen the allen screws and remove the strings at the saddle end, then tighten them so you don't lose the blocks. Gives easier access and re-installs in minutes.

Proper distance between the srtings and pickups????

You do not need F spacing for tremolo guitars. And actives are not overrated. Especially for bass players (considering MOST basses use an active system in them....). They have their use.
-
how much ibanez guitars get pickups swapped they should just make RG 0 guitars , zero electronics in them and give a gift certificate to a local guitar shop for two pickups. The only thing to consider is if your pickups are F spaced or not... F spaced = guitars with tremolos , twin rail/blade pickups , invaders and over rated emgs are your exceptions. if you're scared shitless of soldering get a seymour duncan liberator system, stick to over rated actives or get some wire glue off ebay

Thanks man! It'll be a while since now i'm getting it for Christmas :(

I think Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB would be a good fit - it has tons of clarity...look into it and let me know what you think.
-
Sweet guitar - definitely possible....those pickups will most certainly come with a wiring diagram. Let me know how it goes!

Hey man i'm about to buy the Ibanez RG2XXV 25th anniversary and wanted to install the Steve Vai evolution pickups in it. Not sure if it's possible? Could you tell me if it is? Like there's no trick to it if you know what i mean like with all the wiring and stuff it can be done?
