I have a question about the reflector telescope you talked about. When you said that the mirrors needed to be aligned, is that only when moved around a lot? If I were to leave it on my dresser or something and take it outside when I want, would it need to be realigned occasionally, and would I need to take the telescope to a certain place to get it aligned?

What kind of telescope is that in the poster in the middle of the wall?
I want to get into stargazing, but I'm also photographer and would love to get into astrophotography. So based on the vid, it sounds like I should look for something with a relatively large aperture (8"+) to enjoy some non-imaging stargazing of deep sky objects, but still have the ability to take photos as well. That 8" XT8 looks to fit the bill. I would assume a larger aperture would reduce the exposure time for photos that would otherwise be longer on smaller apertures? -
im looking for one that i could take photos as well..total beginner

Anyway, Thx lots for the info!

I want to get an extremely powerful 14 inch aperture telescope that can see more than 300 Billion Parsecs further than the Hubble can see! Just kidding!
However, I do want to get a big, extremely powerful 14 inch aperture telescope that can see clearly with a lot of detail. I plan to spend about $500.
I need something for Astro-photography.
Can you recommend any good telescopes and cameras for this?
BTW: I live on Merritt Island, FL. About 10 miles away from Cape Canaveral and NASA. The whole area around here is interested in this stuff. I want to get pictures that are good enough quality to submit to local news papers and TV stations and hopefully be able to sell them to national magazines.
Of course I would be able to impress my friends on Facebook as well. -
Interesting subject.. Boring guy!!

hi, we are looking for a entry level telescope for our daughter. she will be turning 3 and loves the moon, but it would be good to be able to get something with enough power and clarity that she won't get ridiculously frustrated to begin with. I've found some 50mm ones on Ali express for less than $30US. that seems a lot weaker than anything mentioned though. would it be ok for a 3 year old to get a bit more of an idea of the night sky though? another possible option for us would be to make one out of wood on a lathe. is there a place that sells the hardware/lenses only? thanks for the advice :)

Thank You :) You help me a lot!

Hello, I used your 100mm desktop SkyScanner for a while and loved it! I now want to upgrade and see more DSO's and have a budgest of $750. Which would you suggest? The 8 inch Dobsonian?
